Yesterday, this came.   Here, it's pinned to the Door Blanket on the Way Back Door.  A stunning Rust GOLDEN gift from Liz.  This is It's Glow on a very overcast day…i can't imagine what  might happen with SUN…..and i had it on the table to share with Marti today, just folded,  and already Knew what would happen and it DID

Marti immediately said…a table runner!  and i smiled and said yes,  for Dana,  and Marti went to it.  They had brought a bouquet for Equinox tomorrow and she said…Patricia's Basket,  yes…right there and Ta Da….There we were.    Not quite Dana,  but with just as much Heart.  There was one more photo taken of me and her husband Rich but i am too VAIN to post it here.  I look like, well, a very small thing,  looking up with mindless eyes,  a dried rain drop on my glasses,  (it was, yes, raining) that somehow seemed way more than a dried raindrop,  and my hair is plastered flat and well…i am too Vain.  Rich however looked Great in one of his Hawiian Shirts,  he is a Big man,  partly why i looked so small and skinny,  but not really,  anyway he looked and IS great,  if i knew how to crop pics i would, so you could see him,  but will just leave it to your imagination.

and then…Marti has some issues  with large dogs.  So there was some concern.  But i am so so GLAD to report that Both of them,  Tay and Marti were just so so FINE!  More reason for a Joyfull Heart.   The feed bags were filled with compost and loaded,  the Goats were kind enough to demonstrate the Migration Corridor.  All in All,  a very Best and Fine and Heart filled Day.  I feel very Happy, very Blessed.

it did. as did YOU, through your Cloth. Very Good Company.
and i will say again, as a reminder, that Marti and i know eachother from years ago in the women’s writing thing, Story Circle Network. Then she was in Texas.
How many years now???? i don’t know, but she will. She remembers EVERYTHING.
I count on her for that. And we are as close as Blood. Her husband…he
sees me as close as Blood. This says something. doesn’t it. yes. This
    says Something.
THANK YOU, Liz, for the serendipitous Table Runner

A cobweb free home, shiny clear windows but what was so front and center, the Heart of this day, was the brightness of being together that simply removed the gray of the rain that was coming down when we arrived.
Today was special for many reasons none the least of which were the earthy beauty of Liz’s rust cloth as our table runner combined with Patricia’s lovely coral basket topped with purple flowers in a jam jar, all creating grace notes to dispel the grayness outside. We dined on pizza, salad and there was wine and it was cozy, delicious and so good to be together again.
After lunch, outside to bag the goat gold ( the rain had let up) and then joy to watch the goats run the corridor. My little goat, Celia, came up to me behind the fence and I was thrilled. The goats are so healthy and fuzzy, their winter coats make them look bigger.
RE Tay: I won’t go into the reasons for my big dog concerns but I will say that Tay is a very good dog and to my surprise, she was a part of making this such a heart filled day. I am comfortable with Chinche and Tazmina so it was a given that they would be a part of our day. Tay looks fierce but gets it when someone needs some distance. She doesn’t bark or jump, she does maneuver ever so gently around until she nudges a leg or a hip but that seemed just fine with me. Rich was especially happy to meet Tay as he is a huge dog lover and loves to play and roughhouse with dogs.

Ten years this month and the three of us met face to face in 2007:
We came to New Mexico to meet you and to visit with our nephew in Albuquerque. Stayed in a motel that first day in Socorro and you came to meet us there and the next day came back so we could follow you to your home. I remember that first night, while Rich went to use their gym room, you and I sat on chairs out on the balcony. You took a can of tobacco out of your purse and proceeded to roll a cigarette and I had never seen anyone do that. We talked and talked, my shoes were off and I was swinging my foot, now and then touching yours and it felt like I had known you forever…

This post makes me so happy! I can’t think of a better testament to the connections and community I feel forming here through my computer screen. You and Marti (nice to see you Marti!) being actual face friends helps cement the whirling ephemerality of our on-line relationships. To see Liz’s cloth and Patricia’s basket ON THE TABLE just makes me want to dance. What a wonderful day indeed.

this is just a wonder tale of the finest degree. friends and food and so much love. love and something else–and what that is, i can’t quite find the word for it–but it has something to do with shared experiences over time. and something to do with purpose and that mysterious quality of “things being just as they should be” in the moment that was yesterday at Grace’s table, but now lingers on today for the rest of us to savor.

And even more lovely. What a wonderful telling Marti. I too have a comfy old friend and we had lunch. You know when friendship is true when comfort marks the time, and when your heart swells a bit for the presence. Lucky the ones who have old friends like that. Your post made me happy just before I drop into bed Grace. Thank you.
