HUGE Wind .  Off and On i peeked at the "sparrow" when it began in early afternoon,  it was looking Ify.  Scrap of prayer flag caught each gust,  pulling at the nest.  But soon the small twittering sound and when i peeked again,  i saw one of the rose breasted ones  FEEDING her. FEEDING THE MOTHER,   FEEDING her like a baby bird and then she would adjust herself and FEED a hatchling!!!  Several times this went on and then once early evening i watched him feed the little one which is so little,  like just today,  that i can't really see…just the feeding movements of the parent and the smallest of small twitter sound.   So,  she is NOT a sparrow but a House Finch.  Who i ordinarily only see in early spring.  They have never stayed.   House Finch.  a House Finch.  Wow.  And did he only feed the mother because of WIND?  Because maybe she stayed with the nest to weigh it down?   It's like National Geographic 12" from my nose.

had been thinking since last night about how there is never time for Aesthetics here.  How i'd started to collage the front door door frame maybe 15 years ago.  This is as far as that got.  How i've always wanted to paint lizards on the legs of the Table.  That hasn't even ever begun.   All this has to do with Metta.  Which seems like Everything has to do with.

including the cloth that was supposed to be Pretty

almost finished the second side with Kantha.  Had originally thought to do top and bottom too,  but now i don't know.  It feels good that top and bottom are    OPEN.

Don't know if you will be able to see the penciled lines of a profile?   This is yet another Butterfly atop a head…. maybe it's time to give words to what that means to me.

It's going down to 27 degrees tonight.  The apricots Held in WIND.  Now tonight.  We'll see.

Next to the feather grasses, I so love your butterfly women and so to see the butterfly wings, the strong outline of a face, fills me with deep joy because to me, you have called up once again, La Mariposa, Butterfly Woman. She who dances last at the gathering of the First People in Puye, New Mexico: (from Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Women Who Run With the Wolves, 1993 edition, chapter 7, titled Joyous Body: The Wild Flesh)
Hers is not a filmy, ethereal dance, light of foot, moving through air. La Mariposa has long gray hair that touches the ground, she is short and huge of porportion, her dance is a solid, hip shaking, foot stomping dance, “she hops, hops, hops, not like a rabbit, but in footsteps that leave echoes, “I am here, I am here, I am here…”
In other comments that I have made about La Mariposa, I relayed that she is the “female fertilizing force….she is the center. She brings opposites together by taking a little from here, and putting it there. Transformation is no more complicated than that. This is what she teaches. This is how the butterfly does it. This is how the soul does it.”
When I think of her now, and I think of her in terms of myself, my need to at times, dance like a whirling dervice, to act through my body that which moves me, worries me, gives me joy in large and small letters, I come to know this about La Mariposa:
“she is using her entire body as a blessing, her old, frail, big, short-legged, short necked, spotted body. This is woman connected to her wild nature, the translator of the instinctual, th4e fertilizing force, the mender, the rememberer of old ideas…”
So if La Mariposa remains on this cloth grace, this cloth has moved way beyond pretty to the realm of ancient beauty and that to me is the gift of wonder.

Void of story I think. In some way. Maybe just not telling it.

thinking about those get ’round to it one day projects one of my favourite dream things is carving a life size wooden rocking horse which has been in the back of my mind for 35 years the other is turning an old run down house boat into a fabulous hand carved and painted gypsy caravan moving slowly down the river gathering flotsam and jetsam to add to the decoration then turning around when the river gets too narrow and moving slowly back up the river to the port then selling that one and moving on to another river and doing it all again! this is my grey nomad dreaming for when we can’t garden any more… of course if we aren’t able to garden we also would probably not be very capable with hauling the anchor, drinking bottles of rum or smoking cigars… but i dream of being an old riverboat lady with long grey plaits down to her feet singing “Yo Ho Ho!”

i need to send you a painting of Meinrad Craighead…well, a photograph of it
    Will do that tomorrow.
and i love your dream. You could find a way to haul up the anchor,
or…if there was enough rum, it wouldn’t matter, the drifting.
I can just see this. the cigar smoke wafting up to the heavens.
Love this River Dreaming. Thank you so much for putting it here
    Love,
