fooled around with the Inktense

and faces….didn't want to draw faces,  but wanted to see what the Inktense could do with a face,  and i like it a lot

IMG_4390ff

but i wasn't "feeling" a cloth coming on…so just set some scraps.   There is no intention with these, but they did break the restlessness,  just cloth on cloth.  I need this.

and just to clarify for Mo and Martine about the eye of the beholder…..

When i say weeds here,  what i am pretty much referring to is Kochia.  Some years also Pig Weed.  Not so much this year.  But Kochia for SURE.   This is from inside the fence but will give a reference…. it's a 6ft fence,  so those Kochia tops are 7 and 8 ft.  Their stems at that point need to be cut with tree trimmers or an axe sometimes.

ADDENDUM.

I quit at the point above because the evening's Storm had arrived.   Needing to turn off the computer.

I don't say anything anymore here about how the Planet is changing.  There's no use.

Kochia is Opportunistic and can GROW with almost nothing to support it.    But i have watched the steady Holding of the other natives and Kochia bows to them over time.  Over time.  Over time.

Just as i was finishing the first part above and Storm CAME,  …..huge dump of Rain and then HAIL for many many minutes…just pea and marble size….but i listened to it clang and clash on this house, these windows,  and thought…now's the time to begin living in homes made of sticks.  In homes hollowed out in  underbrush,  homes of grasses.  I thought of the lizards…how hail storms would be really meaningless for them…they live so close to the earth with the rocks for shelter.  Birds in brush.  Insects,  close to the roots.   This is how to live.  These are the shelters to Imagine.

so…maybe that's the next Cloth?

Weeds may be in the eye of the beholder, but even that can change … what I once considered a weed is now my favorite dyestuff (prairie tea aka croton). So yes, I get how you might feel about eight foot high weeds … I currently cut back my turbo-charged frost weed in hopes of encouraging the lower growers to be more successful in the long run.
Meanwhile, you have totally captivated me with your Inktense posts … am going to order some once I sign off here.

if you do…i have the most extravagant batch…i think there is
no need…the difference in colors is so subtle
you could get that with a smaller collection of pencils.
    But i DO
love what they DO….they are very organic, you can “disappear”
them with water and a stiff brush.
I am going to hang some Out in SUN and see what happens.
Again…in my use, they don’t need to withstand washing so much
    but in yours,….?????
    But they ARE really SomeThing

Ah, I’m glad for your reply … what size set would you suggest? I did read somewhere that you can use something to stabilize the color for washing … I’ll look to Dharma Trading. But then I think, wouldn’t it be fun to re-color pieces as they fade in the wash? I guess I’ll find that out, too.
Love the storm clouds in your weed picture and share your thoughts on what the creatures do to weather storms. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the sight of a skunk tottering through torrential rain, no doubt seeking shelter after being washed out of its den.

That.s one fine storm out there. Mound Builders lived underground. But I would imagine heavy rains might call for an elevated structure….with slanted roof for run off and yes not tin! Meanwhile the faces, though you didn’t mean to draw them are kind of haunting……..

Inktense pencils…..have a look at this post of Deanna at Eclectic Meanderings, she does a great thing with those pencils, scroll down way past the part about her pouch sewing. She uses textile medium over the top to make it permanent. http://eclectic-meanderings.blogspot.com.au/
Caught my eye…that small scrap in the first picture, the bold dark blue…nice.

way back when you first wrote about these pencils, someone shared a link on using them and my memory is that they are permanent of fabric without extraordinary measures. . .yes, maybe? you make it all look so possible, love. . .

For you Grace it was more her colouring those squares than the permanence thing, clever, creative out of the box thinker she is..permanence was for Liz x
