I notice the water laying on the surface: is your earth heavy clay like our’s or stone? over here it has become so saturated with water these past days, that in spots the grassy areas in the garden are smooth, slippery and uninviting, nothing can grow there as nothing can push through the clay
i like how this cloth is evolving slowly, the blue streak jumping before the moon reminds me of a seal-like being

right here, because it used to be the flood plain of the Rio Grande
River, there is usually about 2 ft of sand before the clay. But then
yes, clay. Just a hop over to the west of the road, it begins to rise
into the mountain foothills and so rocky but again clay. And then it
changes quickly into rocky under rocky under ….

so much water because it was hail falling hard and heavy and melting
immediately in those places, in the sheltered places the hail remained
looking snow like. Not a Goaty day.

It’s a massive storm and headed my way now. We are trying to finish up some outside work on our house. It has been very warm, so if cold is pushing this it is likely to be big. Ah. Here it comes…

Oh the beautiful wetness. I know it can be wearisome, but we are finally finally getting a bit of it here. I bought boots and walk in puddles liking the sploshing. Love how the pencils are enhancing the
movement in the cloth.

81 miles away from your home, we woke up this morning to snow covered landscape. Looked like meringue on the bushes but now most has melted.
This cloth, Cradle of Night, has all of the feel of the nights leading up to the Winter Solstice. How the dark hangs and grabs hold knowing that it’s time is coming to an end…

65 degrees at noon here! But there’s damp in the air and a forecst of fog and drizzle tomorrow leading to a storm system tomorrow night. I’ve been having events every evening for the past several days and one more tomorrow night – Holiday events from friends – In between I’m posting packages and addressing envelopes. I feel like curling up in your cradle of night, but my own will have to do. ‘Tis the season…
