these are at Bear Mountain.  When i was there a couple weeks ago i got some.  They are $2 .  I can't capture the oh so vague hue of the photograph of some…such an almost invisible color,  one a bluish,  one a greenish but just so so so vague you are not sure you are really seeing it.  Then 2 are just a very soft grey, black/white/Grey.  Some are blank inside.  Some have verse.

the print is tiny.  I use the magnifying glass to read it.  Double Click here.  It is a part of what they are that the print is so small.  The whole feeling of them,  the image,  the print,  the words have a dreamlike quality.  They are all photographs of such familiar scenes that i have seen in New Mex over and over.

the photographer is Margaret Menache    the word crafter is  Chandra L.K. Bales

Yesterday i bought all the rest in the card rack.   Danielle,  as she wrote up the sales slip commented that she will see that i meet Margaret.  That because i am so taken by her work,  she knows we will like each other.    Another reason to appreciate Danielle.  She has interesting sensibilities,  interesting responses.  Margaret is in Albuquerque.

i had sent the first batch every few days to a friend who i used to clean for,  the one who gave me the truck, Sonny,  when  They moved to Salida, Colorado some years ago.  He has been having Stage 4 Melanoma and with treatment was declared in total remission 2 days ago.

Creating these message carriers,  the image and the words,  they could not have imagined that this would be their Work.   At some point,  Margaret the photographer either got the idea herself or as suggested by others,  to create cards of her images.  Maybe she sells prints of the photographs too?  I will come to find out.  But anyway,  either her own mind said Do It or she followed suggestion of others and i am sitting with them today,  being soothed,  softened,  lulled by them.   She could have said

No.

She didn't.  And i am grateful.

So much talk about "selling" off and on.  To me,  other than the most basic of food,  someone's creative Beauty is so much like food for my Heart.   And i give that energy substance called money and in turn, they buy food.  It's Grand and oh so Beauty FULL.

So,  i don't understand the No.

Why not?

i cleaned house and lit Nag Champa.

8:25 pm.  lit more.  Ok.

the smoke from the incense curls.  The dog sleeps.

it's 9:07pm.   I will go lie down in my bed.  Outside my window,  there is no war.  there is no earthquake.  No one is shooting  guns.  The smoke curls.  The dog sleeps.

what goes around comes around… over and over… an exchange of energy, of love, of creative energy… “The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World” by Lewis Hyde is a good read.

something tender and unifying about the use of nag champa. It has been the embracing fabric of my homes for decades…lovely, Grace, to see another thread tying our many years of knowing one another together with more shared energies…after the tidying up this morning, nag champa will fill the corners of each room and rift out the windows open to receive fresh spring air, and to share that loved fragrance with the air outside my dwelling place.
The cards with art photos and words..truly special..thank you.

    love that….”tender and unifying”…yes, i smile softly…
how the nag champa has been the constant smoke thread over
so many years, the wisps of it weaving in so many things, so
    many days, so many years
i used to wear Patchouli but don’t anymore because of the
Goats…they need the smell of a body. If i ever become
    Goatless i will douse myself
yes…those cards….i sit and study the images, the photographic process that gives that tint
WHEN i meet her i will have questions about her process of
    color/non color
May you have the most tender day….
