i used to say that to the grandkids when mid morning came,  breakfast finished,  restlessness rising…

GO!  Make yourself a world.

squatting and crawling around Out There today,  i remembered that.  so while i dug for the trees,  i washed the rocks and rearranged some,  moving earth with my hands….make yourself a world, grace, ok.

watered the old Child Buddha garden,  now the Cairn garden.  Looked.  here is where some of  Nancy Krampf's Canyon seeds will go…which?…….or maybe the woad?……

second Vitex.  I talked a lot with Tay about how she really needs to just look.  Which she has been,  looking a LOT…standing over…looking….the freshly dug soil interesting her,  a lot,  and i talk to her,  and we hope it comes out ok….

if it does and they take,  in a couple years it really will become a Wonderland.  BEES LOVE VITEX.

and in all the secret places….around rocks,  the in betweens,  these seeds of Black Hollyhock from Jill in Montague, California….i crawl on hands and knees with a kitchen fork…an eating fork,  scratching up the earth,  scattering seed.  Jill's seeds.

Go make a world i told the kids.  I told my kids that too.

"they" say that we never veer from the self we were as a young child.  That what we loved then,  we always love,  whether or not we acknowledge that love in a life time….   I made worlds as a kid.  They were worlds that made sense to me.  Here i am,  making a world,  one that makes sense to me.

yes…however we can do it…with Our Selves, with the children….
GO OUTSIDE. make yourself a world.
i think about the kids maybe coming…in late summer…Julian 7 and Destiny 8, and i will be saying this to Them too…. GO! Go Out Side!!!!
    make a world…..
CREATE something. you need earth, water, sticks. That’s about it and some pulled up weeds for trees but you can, you can make a world. And then beyond that if you have a lot of scrap stuff and nails and a hammer and screws and a screw driver and more scrap stuff, you can build something that makes sense to you and then if you have some kind of stuff that makes COLOR you can make it pretty, bright
and then when you come BACK, Inside, you can do the same with Cloth

    back from a week in Greece, catching up here first;
‘go make yourself a world’ how absolutely wonderful to see and read about this over here, as it relates to a talk I had with my beloved brother as we were watching a young boy play with his cars; he was driving them back and forth in his own small world, his face full of purpose and focus….and as we were watching my brother said: when did I lose the ability to play like he does?

yes, casting Spell, creating, being created in the creating,
being Gardened by the gardening One Thing
i LOVE working on my hands and knees, watching how the hose
water makes rivers and streams among the rocks that are
    mountains
i get so lost in it, everything else disappears

i’m sure there IS one very similar out there somewhere…
the daughter was queen of world making. When she was very
little, maybe 3 i’d say that when she was crabby and hear
the screen door in the kitchen clatter shut, look out after
a while and there she’d be, having hauled the plastic kid
pool onto the flat space by the porch…put some water in it,
hauled her bucket fulls of dirt, piled it in, making terraine,
poked in twig trees, stone river bottoms and then….
gathered some Toads from the garden slope in the Way Back of
that house, they were always easy to find,
my most treasured memory from that is the day i stood in
the doorway and saw her squatting, leaning in, saying to the toads….
“speak louder! i can’t hear you!”

send him some of those match box cars….tell him to go out
into his back yard if he has one, or an empty lot in the
city, take something to dig with…a spoon will do….
tell him to Go! make himself a world
he’ll remember instantly….i don’t think it ever leaves us

‘lll write your name on a little piece of paper and tuck it

    oh dear one,
how incredible to have you know about placing names under rocks
and how very special this is to me.
when we finished the medicine wheel it came to pass that the
goldfinches would hit the windows on the porch that faces the canyon wall
we would hurry out pick them up and set them on a branch of the squaw bush
and go back in and watch and wait to see if they made it.
many did not mostly all females in their first year.
i began to dig little graves under the rocks in the medicine wheel, flowers picked and offerings and om mani padme hum.
ritual is so important to me and it seems to most of us here.
    namaste dear one.
