it's 94 degrees.  Hot.   The cooler isn't working yet,  but  the beloved Fan,  the oscillating fan Owen is.  And how it is for me,  days, weeks,  months even can go by and i do nothing…then suddenly i DO…

the dog crate,  Tay's "house" gets collapsed and it is OutSide,  leaning on the porch.  it's heavy.  so will get slowly moved to the Albatros and leaned somewhere in there.  For now…this Space, inside.    And anything it might have meant now will mean negotiation.  Her.  Me.  Negotiation.

and the wood box gets overturned to become a kind of end table ……maybe

no one i know would live here.  It's such an ify place.  It's coming apart at the seams.  So i watch.

On my return from the old Victorian abode in Massachusetts with it’s own decays and constant efforts at repair, I note the space here in a pre-war building that’s only been painted once in the decades since I’ve been here, and note too all the half-ass repairs, and all the non-repaired parts – doors to cabinets with only one hinge where there should be two, broken and separating tiles in the kitchen, the old claw foot bathtub whose enamel is gone to iron in many places, the toilet that just about makes it to flush, the chipped paint, the yellowing of everything, and I think…Oh, dear. I live in a cluttered slum by most folks standards. Yet, when company comes they say “Charming” and “So comfortable.” I suppose the company I keep is the key to my own comfort. Everything falls apart in stages. I’m watching like you.

Super glue those seams because it seems to me that your home is filled with everything you love. I’ve been in beautiful very expensive very big homes and feel nothing. Just stuff..
Your place looks to me to be filled with treasures…and YOU!!
Who’s the lucky one???? YOU are!!

Grace you have a fine home.
    new century modern
it could be in Norway, Iceland , England.
its full of light and peace.
it doesn’t look warm, wry grin.
the weather guessers say its supposed to be a hotter summer.
    almost 200 in arizona?
we have a few strategies for cooling.
a hammock outside would be nice?
we cleaned up the air conditoiner
    our little winter maker,
it should be good one more season
    its a bit rusty.
hope your cooler is workable soon.

Before reading the words, first thoughts, “Grace’s house just Glows with light- from the sun & her spirit.” Really.
(we have a few crates, too, & similar feelings, hear the words “cozy,” “house of curiosities”, “so you…” don’t know quite what to make of them, but it’s how it is & not likely to change.)

I could live in your house! It’s so full of light, color, beauty and life – all a reflection of you. I love the pictures of Tay from a couple of days ago, too.

i woke at 2 something in the night and read your words above, went back to sleep and in the time of back to sleep, i dreamed that we had just gotten to your house, several of us, and we were unloading and organizing things in your kitchen and there was a young one, lying on kind of a chaise lounge, just outside all of the kitchen busy~ness who was very very pregnant and i went to sit on the cushion beside her and feel down on her rising round belly to find that the baby had engaged. Birth was imminent and i said that and there was an increased level of happiness to the busy ness and a lot of light exchange of voice and just a HUGE sense of Well Being of a lot of women coming together
it was really Fine, Michelle. Really Really Fine.

as i’ve said before…if i’d never had a “regular” house, i might feel different. But i did. I had that. and i CHOSE to for a long time have NO house at all, and then that Airstream and then this. So i know it all. And yes. i am Lucky.

the swamp cooler is fine. It’s just that i haven’t started it up. I need to put in new panels. Sweep it out and then hook up the hardware. It cools very effectively…Swamp Cooler, Evaporative Cooler, but it’s
    NOISEY
    so i put it off.
I love the Fan and i really am good with HOT. Mid day i just
slow down, like everything in nature does.
    All will be well.

that’s the greatest thing about this tin trailer house…all the WINDOWS…on both sides and the end. Yes…there is a LOT of light and that makes all the difference in the world.
Tay…she is making her presence very known in these days….
we are working on using only hand movements to communicate. She’s very interested in that. When we are doing the throw the ball thing, and i throw it too soon, so she doesn’t know where it rolled to, i gesture to her…point….say There! ….she
searches and then looks to me again and i repeat
it’s really amazing what she is willing to learn, just out of her own curiosity and interest

I’ve always been intrigued by your house… because its a home of a creative person. I couldn’t live in a place that was so hot, but I have lived in a tiny two room white washed cottage in Greece with an outdoor toilet (downstairs) and only cold water in the pipes. Running water was a plus, and electricity, and walls to keep out wind and MOSt of the creatures, but walls and water a bit of electricity was all it was. A table a bed an excuse for a bed a tiny fridge and a two burner gas cook stove. It was divine.

it is a shelter, and refuge for all of us who visit here (i speak unabashedly for others) and yes it isn’t ‘finished’ but then again whatever is, it’s more a question of what you are willing to accept, embrace and make do with; for some it would be quite unacceptable, and i have recently been in a home of someone who is rather more than well-off (multi millionaire in fact) and what a BORING house he lives in, wouldn’t trade if for the world
