Fire.   Fires here are Beings.   Right now there are active Fires to the South West of me,  the East and the South,  where Sonny Ray went home to tonight.  That fire,  to the South,  is mostly contained.  Electricity is back up and running and Jan the dog trainer is returning home.  But Fire.  Fire is Real.

Jude commented the other day and i don't know which day, that she was surprised at how hot it was…those were the few days in the 100's.  They are unusual,  so far,  always a few, now and then but usually not so hot.  Low 90's feel just very much ok and like summer because of the lack of humidity.  You learn to work OutSide in the mornings and then later in the day,  when Sun goes to the Rim.  Mid day you stay In.  It's a nice and gentle routine, really.  Some for Everything.  a Routine.   And because it's dry,  there are no mosquitos or really,  any biting insects.  As i've said before,  it's Such a Benevolent world.  and it is.

this is better.  It's how it is.  No need to make it into something it is not.  So it's back.  to how it is.

Lovely post….hard fires and oh the weather as you describe it ‘benevolent’ mostly…that routine is kind of my routine even here in NYC…and definitely my friend in Florida’s routine….early out midday in and evening okay again. What ever the weather and even with the fire threat…I am grateful for my blessed life (and yours)…listening to this from Joan Baez 75th birthday celebration in January of this year…

i probably really meant because it was continuing to be so cool here. I hear it is to be very much drier and hotter there for the next moth or so. So Fire . I think about that.

Sunday and a few days next week here in Rio Rancho, NM, it will be 100+. Rich is of the lizard clan, loves the heat, I don’t so it is good that I will be gone to CA until Sept. May all who come here have the summer that they wish for; may we all hold dear those that matter most to us as well as those whom we have never met but whose lives matter so dearly as well…

Desert colors reflected in a smoky sky … here in the humid fug of Tidewater Virginia, I realize how different the east coast greens are from those in the southwest. Yellow predominates here, whereas the blue of agaves and sages color our now-home world. I am grateful to know both.
And the dangers … fire and flash flood in the west versus the slow rolling dangers of hurricane and mold in the east (how many times we had to hunker down during storms and there were innumerable repairs of foundations invaded by rot in our Williamsburg homes).
All by way of saying that life is both treacherous and precious. Being aware, being present, making something of it all … these things matter.

Well…as i said, usually, at the beginning of the warm
months, there are the few days of 100 degrees but then it
settles and 90’s are how it is. But today, Friday the 17th,
the forcast is that it will go UP again over the weekend.
according to what They think, this will become the new pattern
so it’s hard to know. But without humidity, it’s so
much just OK. Heat and Humidity can knock me FLAT. Not this.
and fires…this is always so in areas where there are vast
mountain forests. Lightning causes fires. The land recovers.
and along the Bosque, where Jan lives….Bosque meaning Forest…the cottonwoods and brush plants.
But everywhere has something. I watch that woman’s blog who is farming in Illinois and her world would make me crazy, the
flat flat land, endless farm land and storms that can so easily form into tornadoes….no where to run from them, no way
to take cows, pigs, chickens to safety. And all summer, every
    summer, it is so possible.
