I was given this plant last year.  I kept saying,  Thank you,  but i really don't want it.  and she kept saying that i would like it a lot.  When i drove away from their house,  Plant was on the seat of the car.  All last winter i barely watered it.  Not necessarily on purpose,  but sort of.  I am not good with house plants.  As i type  those words,  i stop and think what i'm saying.  I am not good with house plants.

A plant person is a plant person.  hmmm.

something is about to happen.  maybe a week ago i noticed two very small bumps on what appeared to be a stem…today…,  like short Okra.   So i have gone to look at them many times today.

Toad.  The piece of cloth this was part of rose up in a basket a week or so ago.  I studied it and saw this small image….Toad i thought but then let it go because it's very vaguely an image of a Toad but it has remained Toad.  So.  Toad. and with violet coloring,  like the Iris Tuber Forest where they live,  come and go from.  Where they winter over.  So, purple because of that.  And then…

arms.  What does her right hand do?  And if arms,  then,  feet.  With arms,  she is mortal.   They are of graphite,  pencil.  I can take them away right now.  If i "bleed" them in with turpentine,  they will be permanent for a while,  how long is not known.

I can’t wait to see what blooms there. I have a couple of Christmas cactuses that get sickly if I pay attention to them. If I stick them somewhere in the shade where the rain might reach and forget about them, they thrive.
Have you ever tested permanent marker on cloth, teasing it with alcohol? It “blooms” and it stays.

Essential Being, with the capacity for Doing. Once Beingness has arisen into consciousness, the doing part just follows naturally. Keeps grace: that keeps all your goings graces…(to paraphrase Gerard Manley Hopkins).
I love your neglected plant that refuses to feel herself neglected. All her goings are graces too.

What a glorious cactus. I wish I had a piece to start for myself. Will check in every day–wanting to see how the blossom looks. I find your writing very peaceful–full of Grace. and your drawings–well, they are quite lovely.

i’ve got that one hanging plant that just has a life of it’s own. I’d take a pic of it but i am ashamed. It is so dusty. There’s
still time, as in warm days, to take it outside, hang it from
the Old Apricot and wash the leaves. I need to do that.
re: permanent marker…no, but ink yes and not alcohol, but
turpentine which i think is the same effect…i used to use
the turpentine with graphite and colored pencils with a lot
    of drawings
