cattle panel delivered in anticipation of yet another yard.   for Sunny Ray who has worn out his welcome at Jan the dog trainer's.  Tomorrow we'll build the yard…Travis and Everett…next week the homecoming.   Fence will be double…this steel rigid kind lined with regular livestock fencing.  They say it might snow tomorrow night.

Lovely cloth. Snow? Is it really time?
Still warm here in and out of rain.

Snow flurries came here on Nov. 29th, enough to sprinkle the ground and the tops of the Sandia Mtns. We are at a little over 5300 ft in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Want more snow to come for this weekend because on Sunday, the historic Coronado site, home to the Kuaua Pueblo holds their Luminaria/Farolito Festival. Big debate as to which is the proper term; luminarias refer to bon fires and farolitos refer to paper bags filled with sand and candles. Both will be at Coronado, hundreds of farolitos will light the night sky and warm the heart. If there is snow, those lights will glisten from the reflective snow.
We went the first year we moved here but not last year. We will go this year because I am in need of this simple celebration of light, warmth and tradition; it beckons to the coming serenity of Winter Solstice.

OH I LOVE IT WHEN SOMEONE ASKS A QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thank YOU for that…
Sunny Ray is the son of the old most Elegant and Excellent Goat Gideon who is so OLD now and arthritic but Just Going nonetheless.
Maybe i should say too that these Goats are my daughter’s Goats. Due to complications, have been living Here, with me for 4 years now, but there is still a strong faith that she will come for them and take them to California. Who knows.
so…Sunny Ray is Gideon’s son. Gideon is too old now to “give the seed” and hence, the drive to keep his son to carry on those genetics which are Dams that are prize winning milking does, all of them.
Sunny Ray has been over at Jan the Dogtrainer’s place for almost a year now. He has bred all her doe Goats. Very Successfully tho it’s a long story, there. Anyway, she doesn’t want anymore breeding for a while and doesn’t like buck Goats anyway and has been kind in keeping him this long….beyond the time that his “work” was over.
I had thought that his father the BeautyFULL LIONGOAT Gideon wouldn’t have made it through last winter. But here he is, today, still Going.
There is a woman up in Magdalena who is interested in having Sunny Ray. She has Nubian does and wants to breed down in size. Sunny Ray is a big Nigerian…like his father, so perfect.
IF his homecoming causes too much comotion with the other bucks, i will let him go up the mountain to Annie’s Place. She doesn’t have a “closed herd”….like this one here and Jan the dogtrainer’s, so if he did go there for an indeterminate time, i’d need to get him tested for all the stuff that Goats are tested for before bringing him back to go to California. That’s expensive, one, and two, if he didn’t test good, then…
then what? Back to my FEARs about animals and responsibility
for them once they are “claimed”.
Anyway…the hope is that he can come back and everyone will be civil and just ok and we can hang in here till Daughter comes for them……………~………~~~~~
    BUT
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THE QUESTION!!! I never know
what’s interesting and of any importance at all or ……..
    LOVE to you

So good that you will have help with the fencing… such expressions of love for Sunny Ray .. I so hope for all your sakes that his homecoming goes well.
Love the fabrics you’re currently working with .. did you dye them yourself?

couldn’t do it myself…the cattle panels are 16ft long. One side of the “yard” will be two of them. Can’t hold and attach to the T posts alone. Wish i could.
I hope it goes well too…he is the most gentle Goat…a lap
baby in the beginning and still has that quality. Important
to KEEP him. and KEEP him Well.
the cloth that has the Images…the moth and the face are from walnut dye here. The backing is Deb Lacativa’s oh so beyond beauty FULL damask dye
