I hauled some of the branches of Tree to the back of the Way Back.  Goats following along,  being interested in why i might be doing that.   This morning there was a dusting of Snow on Tree's body.  And small birds in her horizontal branches.  The haze burned off early in the day.  I read and re~read comments here going back a few posts.  Thought.  I tried to make honey cookies like my mother made but don't have the exact recipe…didn't keep it and the one i used wasn't it at all.  Same ingredients but not proportions and i also did what i most always do with cookie making….over baked two sheets of them because i forgot,  having gotten lost in thought.  I don't know if i'll try again.

i wanted to "get somewhere" with Lizard and tried.  but it just wasn't happening.  Everytime i would walk away i could see the form so vividly in my mind,  but when is was there with the needle and thread,  i couldn't translate it.  I'll keep trying but at some point maybe take all the threads out.

the position i "see" her in is difficult for me to make happen with the thread…she is looking UP

her head turned,  her body turned in two ways…i'll keep trying…i want it that way

over on Cathy's blog…naturedye.wordpress.com,  she talked about using Cutch the other day.  Sent me info.  I read about it and there was this at wildcolours.co.uk:  Cutch.  Acacia catechu. " Cutch dye creates the colour Khak  (khaki) an Indian ( India)  word for dust, earth and ashes.  Cutch was used to  dye the khaki colour of military uniforms because this colour is difficult to see at a distance and provides natural camouflage."  Cathy gets cutch from The Woolery.  you can google that.  They are in Kentucky.

I looked a lot at the as yet blank Astronomy Calendar.  I like it a LOT.  one week from tonight i will do the Ritual of Changing Over.  I am even more than usual anticipating that.

the neighborhood is inordinately quiet tonight.

That a small grocery store can thrive while the big store closes speaks volumes for the kind of wonderful community you live in. Wishing you peace ..

The little things that hold such dear meaning; snow tipped branches on beloved Russian olive tree; the goats just going, regardless to the changes in their landscape; your community together in a grocery store; cookie baking, doesn’t matter if they turned out; the New Year’s Eve ritual… these things form the rituals of our lives, these are the quiet joys of life. May we hold onto them as we face this next year.
This morning of Christmas, I watched an interview with the Dali Lama on TV (CBS Sunday Morning show). He has co-authored a book with Desmond Tutu, The Book of Joy. As we enter this next year, his belief that by joining hands with one another, feeling solidarity, we also find inner joy, the joy most profound is something that I am closely considering. It is my challenge this coming year to turn that inner joy into outer action.
On this day of Christmas, thank you grace, for sharing what matters to you in such a way that is deeply inclusive and reflective for all of us. Thank you all who gather here in this place of wind and thread. May we continue to come together in any way that we can to support each other, our friends, our families, our planet.

One more thing to share: The Dali Lama interview that I watched showed him with Desmond Tutu, sitting at a table, with food and friends, etc. The Dali Lama was laughing and Desmond Tutu jokingly said, “Act like a holy man” to which the Dali Lama continued to laugh even more heartily. I have to say that to see this so lifted my spirits.

Another Christmas day over. The sharing of love on here is so heartwarming, it makes me smile.
And I have a packet of Cutch I bought years ago at a show and never used. I’m feeling a real need to make some cloth dyeing babies.
