cathartic?, YES. is that all? i doubt it.

woke this morning with the maybe of going to Albuquerque to STAND.  Was drizzling,  which means waiting for ok Goat Moment to feed.  Wind came up.  and i though about how my life revolves around these Goats,  these Beings.  And i was feeling sick.  so 

i didn't go.  So i watched,  from start till there was no more coverage,  this gathering of WOMEN in Washinton DC.  I was glued to the screen because what i saw was what i thought didn't exist anymore.  What i saw is the America i know,  the America i grew up with,  believed in and what was so particularly exhillarating was this, today,  was a FEMALE AMERICA.   Yes,  there were good men,  they are our sons,  but what i saw was WOMEN.  I was mesmerized by all their faces,  rising up in the singular soft Beauty of WOMEN.  so…in a way,  i was Glad that i didn't go,  because i had this opportunity to watch HOURS of this…..not just a glib few minute news feed.  I watched it go ON and ON and ON.  

There is Enough,  Enough to Hold US.  We will Prevail.

    Sister March Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jan. 21, 2017:
    We came together, a tapestry of women, children, and men to hold together, bear witness and participate in Democracy. The color pink everywhere and while I don’t knit and didn’t have a pink pussy hat, I did wear a wool cap with pink stripes. Albuquerque did not march but held a rally in Civic Plaza. Local news sources say that there were over 10,000 in Albuquerque and 6,000 in Santa Fe who did hold a march. All came together, in unison , in acknowledgement of the work ahead and in determination as well as in kindness and caring when mid-way through the 3 hour rally, it started to snow and people helped each other put on coats, fix hoods, sharing umbrellas.
    So many powerful and wonderful speakers, blessings, music, drumming, dancing and signs. A group of women, long colorful skirts, hats of every description calling themselves The Raging Grannies led us all in song and protest. One speaker really summed it up when she said that while it was great to see all of us here today, WHAT are we going to do tomorrow for politics is local and it begins right now, right here, today, tomorrow.
    Words and poetry in English and Spanish and I found myself welling up with tears and shouting, “Si Se Puede”, Yes We Can. An incredible spoken poem, first in English and then in Spanish, ripped through me, especially the Spanish words having to do with rising up and rising from our bones.
    Many, many words, spoken, written on signs and after a blessing to our first Mother, our Mother Earth by Native American women, the power of a simple sign with a drawn earth and the poignant words, “There is No Planet B” stood strong. Two other signs reached out to me. “A Woman’s Place is in the Resistance” and “Organize, Agitate, Educate, Must be Our WarCry.” My simple 8 1/2 x 11 sign, safety pinned to my jacket said:
    R- Rights.
    E- Equal.
    S- Strong.
    P- Peaceful.
    E- Emboldened.
    C- Community.
    T- Together.

    I was glued to CNN … I could not believe what I was seeing … from state to state .. so many counties! One beautiful sight after another..I am full .. full of love and gratitude to have been able to witness such universal love and support. Yes … I’m feeling full!

    just back from Boston. seems pretty clear nobody thinks this was a one-off. It’s only DAY ONE. Fortunately there are a lot of us … we can take turns, work shifts, provide food and maybe sleeping space for others. it’s ALL DO-ABLE. Especially for women …

    I looked at many cities and the flow of peaceful people…I think Seattle was so beautiful, like a bed of pink flowers. Maybe it was just the right lighting for our city. I was so amazed, as the cameras followed the lines of people from the air, sooo many.

    I wasn’t able to go march either and spent the time listening to the broadcast of the Washington D.C. rally/march, looking at what was happening around the world and it gave me such hope, hope that seems sustainable.

    Hi, Grace! Here’s a good read from a woman who took her daughter to her state capital’s Women’s March. She writes with such mindfulness, compassion and humor on her blog, and this particular post of hers makes me feel somewhat hopeful that we won’t be fighting these same issues of the Sixties forever – after all, she and her like-minded husband are also raising three boys!

    Thank you Marti for being one of the myriad of people saying to the world, all life matters….and being willing to look forward with the commitment to being the change we need. My local community did a small, several hundred, walk as most folks boarded buses to go to the capital in Helena. 1% of the state population gathered peacefully to sing and speak words of truth and peace.
