Nina of Ruit Farm in Maine….ruitfarm.wordpress.com….is READY.  Those of us who really wish there was something happening in the Goat world here can go there and experience things to come.  These moments of hers now are what i look forward to so much when we are settled in the Next Place.  So much floods back of that first spring they came  here,  when 14 kids were born.  All without a hitch.  Go check it out and be on hand for the big moments.  and please leave her a message that you came.

and then….Deb Lacativa …morewgalo.blogspot….her today's post about a call for work.  threadsofresistence.blogspot.com

is Love a kind of Resistance?  For me it is….as i wrote about the other day,  that i won't let what's happening take my heart down,  i won't let it take my reality away,  my days that are hand and hand with this Planet Earth….is that a kind of Resistance? and would this cloth be relevant?   Entries need to be a minimum of 20×20.  and so this walnut dye cotton.  Down in the low right hand corner is the place for the Lizard.  So.  I look at it pinned and wonder.  I've never sent anything for jury,  well, Cloth.  Back in the day,  i sent the "dolls",  the fiber figures.  I kind of like doing that.  it's about believing in what you make.  But in this particular instance,  i'm not sure it's relevant….but then,  who cares.  I might just do it.

Thank you for the link to Threads of Resistance … I’ve put the blog into my Kindred Spirits and asked to be put on their email list. I love how your cloth has expanded in response to the call!

grace, i really really understand (and love) what you said about not letting All That take your reality away. Or love. Ever since that day i barely remember that i wrote the long story about in comments i have been thinking about a particular quote that has always inspired and strengthened me. I do not remember exactly which tribe it comes from but i think it might be Lakota: a nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground. some years back i left the quote in comments at jude’s over something upsetting but nowhere near like what has become just another day in our present tense. operational word: tense and that is as good as any reason to be in ongoing touch with the looser side of things. the ordinary belovedness we have created to match up the world/life we choose with the core truths of who we are. right now i’m damn proud to be living free and wild in the common/wealth of massachusetts. don’t one bit like why i am feeling that kind of tribal thing about a marked-off area of the land, but yeah. I persist, just like she did. As we all do. And persisting can be as gentle and lovingly subtle as we please. the profound resistance to despair and over the top hatred in living a daily life of quiet reverence. our hearts are resilient as all hell. that’s part of the ongoing definition of being an old woman, isn’t it?

Grace all you need to do to add a real LINK to a site you want us to share is add http://ruitfarm.wordpress.com and http://threadsofresistence.blogspot.com
May I suggest you pull the tail out to hang down in front of the bottom border. It looks good in the center set off by the brown cloth.

Speaking of a big world: across the pond in Australia, Barry Smith sculptural artist posted a message of hope and peace on his blog.
    http://rustnstuff.blogspot.com/2017/02/hope-and-peace-giveaway.html
He offered to send the first 10 people who responded, one of his beautifully made unique pendants. He only asked that we share our thoughts re hope and peace. More than 10 replied so more than 10 will receive one of his amazing pendants. Barry reached out across the planet with kindness and generosity. In so doing, he has demonstrated that in the face of so much turmoil, the simple core value of friendship and generosity connects us all.

Thank you for these words, Acey. I am so encouraged by the women who gather together in this virtual space of an ever-expanding Internet, going and growing like an organic lace, together making each of us stronger. Last night a group of us who meet periodically in the physical world were wondering how to best respond to friends and family who seem to be increasingly polarized on both sides of our current “situation.” I wish I had known your words, “… persisting can be as gentle and lovingly subtle as we please.”
BTW I believe the quotation, “A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground. Then it’s finished; no matter how brave its warriors or how strong its women.” is from a Cheyenne proverb before their split into Northern and Southern tribes. As long as each of us persists, no matter how big or small our influence seems, “they” will never find our collective hearts on the ground.

Oops – typos and auto correct get me every time! The end of the quote should be weapons, not women!!! Geez.

Thanks, Grace, for pointing out my farm. I wish I were as ready as you think I am!!! I am excited to dream of your coming time in California, where you can again breed your beautiful goats. And most likely not have to worry about minus degrees in the winter, or so I hope!
I love the quote ‘a nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground.’ So true. My heart is with all of us women who are rising up to speak truth to power. We must. No matter how difficult some days feel. I take heart from my beautiful goaties. They are my tonic to what is going on in the world. And your beautiful work is another way to handle this. I hope you do put your piece into the juried show!
