still.  Hours now.  into a new day.

This happened twice before in my life.  When just the identification of the Remedy was enough.  How amazing is that.   But it's what i have come over the years to love about this small pamphlet,  its  simple presentation,  its simple Sure presentation….no need for fancy.  What it is is what it is.

when in town yesterday,  i went to Walmart.  ALWAYS right up front were the Rand McNally Road Atlas'.  Prominantly displayed.  I guess for all the Seniors who shop there while on the road in their motor homes.   Anyway,  my very ratty ancient one bit the dust some years back.  I'd pulled out the pages from  my trip to Minnesota ten years ago.  And then when most all the kids were in California,  that page too.  and Colorado,  where my son is.  And then when i made Julian's collaged match box for Christmas,  i cut up California so his box would have the map of where he lives.

i looked Everywhere…nope.  So asked the person who stands central in the store where they might be and she said….we don't have those anymore.  No one uses maps.  You use your GPS.

o.

she said it like, DUH.  and i responded privately in my mind, like, duh.  What if your vehicles are 30 years old and  don't have that?  And what if you happen to really LOVE maps?  Duh back.  She was nice,  as they are encouraged to be and led me back to the book and magazine section,  but no….no road atlas'.  But there was a few paper maps.  Arizona,  Texas….a few of these and one single kind of tattered Western States.

so.  Here.  and it adds to the sense of things.   Don't know why the camera chooses to give color this way,  but it doesn't matter, really.  So,  the MAP.  I will put things here in the next while,  dangle them,  pin them on.  To ……  what?    To make it Sacred.  This traveling.  To act as Blessing in the days i imagine it.  To….?

Maps.  I still love maps and will order a Rand McNally Road Atlas from where else than Amazon for looking at with the kids in California.  Look at and mark with the sky blue Sharpie highlighter….where they are,  where all of us Were,  the roads we traveled in our days.

small.  feels good.

Maps are wonderful, so nice to see the big picture and track! I found the Walmart version of Rand at Walmart at Christmas time, even had a list of all their stores where you could Camp in their parking lots. But have not seen it there since.

Leave the familiar for a while.
Let your senses and bodies stretch out
    Like a welcomed season
Onto the meadows and shores and hills.
    Open up to the Roof.
Make a new water-mark on your excitement
    And love.
    Like a blooming night flower,
Bestow your vital fragrance of happiness
    And giving
    Upon our intimate assembly.
Change rooms in your mind for a day.
    All the hemispheres in existence
    Lie beside an equator
    In your heart.
    Greet Yourself
    In your thousand other forms
As you mount the hidden tide and travel
    Back home.
    All the hemispheres in heaven
    Are sitting around a fire
    Chatting
    While stitching themselves together
Into the Great Circle inside of
    you

I have a draw full of old maps. Some times I use them as wrapping paper. I have maps form mom and dad too, of course they are worn and not used much as maps any more. Maybe I should make a paper quilt out of them.
Maybe we should make maps. Everyone talks about map-makings in such metaphorical ways these days. maybe a real map of here before i go…? Funny thing is when I went to the records office here to straighten out some legal papers, they told me there was no map on file. I wonder what they will think when I bring them mine?

I need to read a paper map to understand where we are & where we’re going but our old Sydney street directory doesn’t show the new roads & suburbs on the outskirts of town that have been made in the last 20 years. Old Man Crow’s iPhone helps to find our way & Google maps helped find this house, it wasn’t advertised with rear lane access so I looked at the aerial street view, could see everyone’s rubbish bins in the back lane and figured it must have a back gate, it did and we’re still here 8 years later.

I sent you an email (using the address on your sidebar). GPS is great but doesn’t give you the bigger picture of where you are in relation to everything else…

    yes. they are interesting…those maps
in California, for the Hill that Jenny and Alyssia bought, there, it’s required, a geological survey. it came up with no Worry. No fault line. No flood threat. No fire. All that, interesting if you are wanting to BUY. They had not expected that survey to be done. Expected to need to do it themselves. But, gifts given…it had already happened. Transfer of Land. How odd. But how we do it.
