looked for a photograph of this "doll"…from the first days of making them.  It's not finished in this pic,  no "body" stitching yet,  but you can get the drift.  I didn't have a camera then.  As i've said,  i used to write words to go with them…handwritten on hand made paper.  Yesterday i found the words for this one which prompted me to see if i had any pic.  I hadn't seen the words in over 15 years.  Sometimes Asking comes true.

Old Moon Gramma

I would ask to become an old Moon gramma and learn bright red songs for Apple trees…as leaves begin to curl and fall.

Bright blue songs for little lizards as they search at dusk for shelter.  Silver songs for dragonfly and fish.  Mirror songs for River.

I would learn the warm songs for small bird feet that must grip the branch in nights when Sun

Goes so soon and takes His time returning.  For Him,  i would sing a song to hurry up.

And i would sing with Wind his dancing song for grasses so roots stay deep and strong.  Apricot honey songs to bees and How to Get Back songs for hummingbird.

These and many more.

So many songs,  this old Gramma

and for you,  I'd sing them All.

i debate.  Whether to plant or not.   But the pleasure today of this….i will.  Not a lot.  Just some.

a small bouquet of bell pepper that fell to the last frost.   How amazing that the leaves,  all winter, remained perfect.  As Beauty Full as roses or orchids.

If you shall sing, I shall listen. And in the morning I will snip off the three little branches of the apricot tree that are prematurely in bloom and celebrate them in a vase where they can remind me to pray that others will come when the season is more favorable. It’s better to leave a growing garden than to wish later that one had been planted, no?

I’m planting too, just a few seeds though I have only one pot (‘illegally’ left out on the front sill) but in it a green mint is already showing!
I’m swooning over the songs you will sing Old Moon Gramma, and what a wonderful thing she is.

I think alot about Travis and how he knows about this place and you in this place. Will he have animals? What would he plant? Your seasons and climate will be so different out there, yes? longer, fatter ?

yes. how over these 2 going on 3 years, he has come to know
    the important things.
There will be two of them. His friend Everett too. Who probably
will live out there somewhere in some kind of travel trailer. At least for a while. Travis has big plans about enlarging this
tin house…so maybe eventually it would include Everett. They are great to be around. Everett is very comfortable in telling me his way of experiencing things and how Travis is his older brother, interpreting things for him. Both are really FINE
human beings. When i was writing the blog tonight about empathy,
i thought about them too. How what is going to happen will be for them, how they wait and have their dreams of it all. How GREAT it is to be a part of that with them.
Both of them have a cat. and then, Everett recently acquired the orphan Mr. Fluffy…that really TINY dog…size of a baked potatoe. They talk about having chickens and even maybe a couple Goats of their own.
Travis will plant trees. Everett is the Grower….he loves gardens and growing food. His mind is full of plans for that and for all that has housed the Goats that has become so Fertile with their presence. It is an enormous GIFT for me to be able
    to give this to them.
There….well, in a lot of ways it’s very similar but doesn’t get as cold at night in winter. Doesn’t freeze much, but then you don’t know anymore…how things might shift….there is never snow. Winter there is drizzle. More moisture in the air.
not far to the east, fog. I haven’t seen Fog more than a time or two here….not since Oregon. I love fog. drizzle not so much.
the big difference is Wind. and electrical storms. The storms i will long for. Wind i will love in my heart always but will not be broken hearted about. Wind here UnDoes so much that a person tries to do. Wind here breaks things. Jenny tells me that i will come to love a strong breeze.
so it’s a little less cold in Dec Jan and Feb. Otherwise
very similar. Tho in the last year or two here, the summer has been racheting up. There, not so much.
I look forward to learning that Place.

I forgot to tell you that the Iris you sent thrived in the big deck pots for a year and have been tucked into the soil in the permanent place up at the mailbox with the peonies and some two-year hollyhocks. Things that come back every year are taking hold.

Grace…away for a while, small hand surgery….thank you for Old Moon Grandmother -speaking to my heart.
Always, always leave planted memories to grow, or not, for those who follow behind us as we move along on our journey. That is what I have always done.
Beautiful to see your photos, read your words and be able to type a bit as hands heal.
    Namaste dear friend
