International Women's Day.  International Women's  Day.  International women's day.

how many times to say it…..International Women's Day

zillions.

i thought.  women.  women in my life.  women.  and i thought of my beloved Marjorie Burke Price…long dead now.  Dead.  she is dead.  But to me,  she lives,  strong and as she was when i needed her.  and how i still need her,  and go back to her…calling her to me…..needing her..

how we would go.  on a weekend.  sometimes just over night.  But we would go…OUT  and camp.  Build a fire.  Talk.  make art.  burn art in that campfire.  Marjorie Burke Price.  Mother.  Woman.

Mine was Margaret Wyley.. Dead too. She and I were like kindred spirits and she taught me so much. I think of her so much and wish I had more time with her.

I was sitting with twenty or thirty others at the zendo, grateful as always just to be there sitting in long rows, some on chairs and some on mats and pillows, eyes cast down or closed, three strikes of the bowl and the golden silence, New York streets below but somehow just mist and suddenly though begins. All the women in my life, women who saved my life and didn’t know it, and those that knew it. A long list began and marched through my mind. I wanted to write them down. Let go of that, and then we walked and the names faded as our lines became rhythmic until the clapper sent us back to our places for another twenty minutes of sitting. I bowed to Kuan Yin and chatted with friends then left to walk home with a sure thought I would write all the names and it would be a long list. It began when i was two and now I’m seventy four so you can imaging. On arrival I cooked up some supper and washed dishes. Then I just couldn’t turn the computer on for the longest time. The list is still to be made and I wonder if I will make it. Tired now, I’m going to bed with all those women (it was always women) close by my heart.

My mother died on the 8th March. This year, for other reasons, the date passed by me.
Through wonderful Spirit Cloth and Jude, and now especially this place where I feel at home, I have found such a joyful connection.
    Blessings Grace
