this morning, driving to work away,  i got just under the freeway overpass where i turn left onto the entrance ramp.  It's a point where 6 lanes of vehicles converge…two directions of a frontage road,  the East to West road i was on the West to East opposite lane that comes down (or goes up to) a very large truck stop gas station, restraurant, travel junk store, they have showers for truckers etc…BIG,  and as i made the left onto freeway entry i see in the almost center of this hub a very small orange and white form.  Like the size of a tennis ball with legs…but you couldn't see the legs,  but it was moving,  in startled jerky movements just a few inches then another direction then then and it was a kitten.  I pulled to a stop half in and half out of the road, a giant semi had just begun the descent down the hill and i ran and then slowed as i approached it, and it was screaming and as i reached down it flattened itself but didn't run and it didn't struggle as i picked it up and held it close going back to the car and putting it on the passenger seat where it immediately left and went Under that seat but without a sound.  When i got the 20 some minutes away,  i pulled it out and put it in Martha's laundry room.  There is already a cat litter box and cat bowls but i gave it a low shallow bowl of water.  Then i worked.  When finished,  i sat on the floor calling,  but nothing.  Am pretty sure it went back behind her washing machine.  I left her a note.  Asking forgiveness.

all the Mallow is beginning to bloom.  From today,  i will always associate that plant to Luck.  That kitten had the GREATEST of LUCK.

Love the pictures of the flowers you have been posting so different from what we have here. You and that kitty had a blessed day … so happy you are both safe!

i went out and looked at Tay’s tennis ball. That’s a wrong
comparison…so much LESS in substance and size of a tennis ball..
just so new a being, frail, just newly weaned if that
it never could have gotten there on its own. There was no
where to come From. Just road shoulder and pavement.
There was a LOT of LUCK involved.

So now I’m waiting to hear what has happened since . . . has the kitten come out? Will she keep it? Will you? Will Tay nurture it? Will you take it with you?
I love the heart of you!

    what we know now.
i called her, Martha and there was a message machine, i hung up. then, i called sometime later and she answered. She is in Dallas, visiting her stepdad. But Steve, her husband had called her about all this…?what to do?….
he had planned to go hang out with friends and play music. They are Geologists and also musicians. and have horses and dogs and a single now, crabby cat. But, when he called her he told her he had heard some very small sounds from behind the washer and had made a little ramp thing to the litter box. He put a bowl of milk. He made their crabby cat stay outside. This is funny. Steve is not maternal.
She said maybe they will try to keep it. But the crabby cat is crabby. Maybe she won’t. But, Martha, being all the way away in Dallas said oh, maybe.
So we don’t know Luck’s story yet.
