first cup of tea in the Morning Chair,  gazing around as i do,  just to the left one of the thread baskets.  Right on top.  This exact length.

Red Thread.

Cloth is still on the back of that chair and i stretch it and press it on….YES.  oKAY.  Exhale.

off to work and back and then back and forth till now, early eve, and it's STILL OK.

it's not stitched Through, but stitched down,  stitched in place.  this too is how it needs to be.

i'm  glad i listened.

LATER.  Later,  it's almost Rim Time and i go to sit on porch and just feel it all.  They are in the middle yard and all notice me there and stare at me  and i go get salted peanuts in the shell and undo their gate there,  go in and they  crowd around and it's hard to be sure that everyone gets equal peanuts and i'm not sure i did but Close and when it's done and i leave,  they RUN

through the migratory corridor,  a couple times,  back and forth,  just for the heck of it,  i guess.  Just because.  And i watch them and in my mind i imagine their new Place which is so much MORE and full of stuff and i imagine what it might be like…There,  in the new Place

I’m seeing them running the corridor – Then the almost rim time – and these word pictures make me feel close to you as I sit here with my front window open to a rainy dark City past 10PM. The evening news is just as alarming as the morning news was, with some additional local disasters thrown in. Tomorrow is another day and I go to the Zendo to sit so I have that to think about (thank goodness)
    That RED thread is powerful!

And there it is. Even though I didn’t come back after I imagined saying something about the line we imagine being caught in-between the memory and the dream.

thought of your cloth & process when I read these good words by Annie Dillard via Whiskey River
“Living is moving; time is a live creek bearing changing lights. As I move, or as the world moves around me, the fullness of what I see shatters. “Last forever!” Who hasn’t prayed that prayer? You were lucky to get it in the first place. The present is a freely given canvas. That it is constantly being ripped apart and washed downstream goes without saying; it is a canvas, nevertheless.
But there is more to the present than a series of snapshots. We are not merely sensitized film; we have feelings, a memory for information and an eidetic memory for the imagery of our pasts.
Our layered consciousness is a tiered track for an unmatched assortment of concentrically wound reels. Each one plays out for all of life its dazzle and blur of translucent shadow-pictures; each one hums at every moment its own secret melody in its own unique key. We tune in and out. But moments are not lost. Time out of mind is time nevertheless, cumulative, informing the present. From even the deepest slumber you wake with a jolt – older, closer to death, and wiser, grateful for breath.
But time is the one thing we have been given, and we have been given to time. Time gives us a whirl. We keep waking from a dream we can’t recall, looking around in surprise, and lapsing back, for years on end. All I want to do is stay awake, keep my head up, prop my eyes open, with toothpicks, with trees.”

will the goats be able to visit you at your new place on the hill? poke their heads in the door and see what you are up to?

we’ll see. Their Forest is adjacent to my campsite B. I could make
a corridor. I don’t know. I just wrote about the Zulu Prince Sunflowers. Goats like so much to EAT things. If i managed to grow more Zulu Prince,
if i grow indigo, if i grow, if i grow if i grow… we’ll see.

    but Red.
i like that you sit with your window open, the news being the news and Red being Red here. I am connected.
