this morning,  just when i was first up,  there was what i had been hoping for.  In the common strip of Google News.  Right there with all the usual and Trump wacking Clinton with a golf ball.  Right there,

"Forget Trump.  The US Storms Ahead on Climate Change Like Never Before."
   NBC news.com  Politics   Adam Edelman

the article

"….the Trump administration's rolling back of federal environmental protection has spurred localities around the country to step up in what experts say is an unprecedented effort."

i printed it.  I have it here next to me.  3 printed pages giving examples of how local governments are moving forward.  "Were really seeing a groundswell of activity, "  Sierra Club Exec Director Michael Brune.

i made my first cup of tea and came back and it was gone.  All day it is gone.  ?????  But it WAS there and i DID make a copy of it.  I'm hoping it's a sign.

Worked Outside today.  Pulling weeds close to rocks and raised beds so i can,  OnceMore,  weed whack Kochia and now Pig Weed.  I don't want to.  I am so Done with it…this is the 4th or 5th time this season?,  when there is usually twice?  I cut big ones by the Gate to the Car and Truck so i could open the Gate wide enough to bring out all for a trip to the dump.  It was overgrown.  I cut them with branch trimmers.  EEEeee. eee for e nough.  But so what.  Needs doing.  and then i called it quits and turned to the dye table.

the spool table itself is beginning to fall apart.  If i were going to be here,  i would need to mend it.  Maybe Travis and Everett will?  or not…but it's served  Good and Noble Purposes  for 22 years.  The pot with the lid and rock;  is the wood stove ash pot.  still has ashes from last year.  need to dump and i'll wash it out and take it.  the enamel pot next to it,  still with dried up walnuts from last dye season.  Emptied and i scattered them along the road on the way to the dump.

can't tell,  but this is the copper pot with walnut residue.  Will clean.  Take.

i suppose they have gallon jars in California, right?  But i'll take these.  Just in case.

my favorite shovel.  This is how i will introduce myself to a local hardware there.  Need a handle.

since the kids were here last summer,  this table had all manner of stuff on it,  under it, around it.  I got a feed bag from the Albatros to put stuff in that needed to go to the dump.  While filling it,  all of a sudden noticed a !!!! and it was a Black Widow,  clinging quietly to the outside of the bag…probably hoping for the best.  I got a stick and carried the bag,  half filled,  over to one of the Ghost chairs by the Giant Secaton Grass and lifted her "tent" ,  she rushed to her egg sac and embraced it.  I caught her egg sac with the fibers of her tent,  she clung silently in determination.  I swept them off onto the ghost chair.  things were still ok and she can relocate.  All will be well.    and back to the sorting thru.

This is all stuff i'll Take.  Jenny tells me that there will be a big porch deck.  a picnic table kind of table and a wood stove for outside cooking.  She says i can make my morning tea on said wood stove.   I listen and smile.  this is not so much the Jenny i know,  but a Jenny that is imagining things.  She has avoided imagining things all her young adult and then adult life.  Now she imagines.

i need to do these kinds of things every day now.  There's so much.  and there are only so many days.

Wow! love seeing all your treasures laid out, good that you’re taking the glass gallon jars, they are getting rare out here since the advent of the Plastiscenic era of this 21st C and wonderful news that the people are taking climate change seriously despite the government wanting to wring the last dollars out of the fossil fuel era, they are dinosaurs & becoming irrelevant, we have to mobilize here in Australia, the government is totally in the thrall of the mining companies and Murdoch!

It’s true…we get such a perverted view if we only listen to the mainline offerings…the world is wide and people are more than just statistics…local doings have changed the world more than once. Oh, your treasures are so fine…so worth taking forward to the hill and how sweet your Jenny and her imagination plowing onward to the visions it wishes into being. Love to you – I’ve spent the afternoon in Central park dancing and Peace flag waving, I’ll get the photos up on a blog post to share soon….wow am I tuckered out!

Timeless Treasures … yes yes to the glass jars. Even here are very hard to come by. I use mine for making Kombucha.. you can buy new ones but I love the old. We can and we will make the changes needed to save this beautiful earth … with or without THEM one spider at a time. Here it was a daddy long legs that was in my bathroom yesterday … today it is in the garden.
    Have a Blessed day Grace.

…wonderful treasures to take and use again…I weep for the many glass jars I let go of over the years, especially the blue tinted ones.

Oh yes, yes Mo….I was writing a note to Grace about the importance of hanging on to gallon glass jars…the food service industry for schools and restaurants has moved to plastic…I have packed and moved my gallon jars for now 30 years…I have painted the lids and treated those that got a bit of rust, but they are my every day storage for staple grains…in the refrigerator so things do not go bad in the heat. The treasures you are gathering to bring with you look to me to be useful, special and important pieces of your history in NM to go to your new home.
You are, Grace, much more “flexible” about the departure planning than I have ever been…it is with awe and admiration that I read your stories of process in getting ready. Amazing patience and seeming calmness. I think I am getting antsy about seeing your new little place in photos on your blog and breathing a deep full breath as this long developing plan and story comes into being – fully alive.
