maybe i haven't said this?   or did i?

there is no Electricity here.  Like you have some outlet and plug stuff in.  Not here.  Everything here is from batteries.  There are large Marine batteries that sit outside and power the thingy that trips the heater off and on,  the water heater.  I don't use customary lights,  so it doesn't need to do that,  i  use flashlight kinds of things for light in the dark.  Those are the usual AA and AAA batteries.  And i use the marine battery for hot water only when i'm wanting hot water for a shower,  hair washing….and that's become sparing.  Not like the old days.

somehow with the R A I N  we kind of lost our minds and got off the routine.  Alyssia, mostly,  some Jenny,  take the batteries back and forth into Chico to recharge them.  This is every couple or few days back and forth.  But we got lost and today,  there were dead batteries and so i couldnt charge this lap top,  the phone even,  and it takes a long time to charge the THING THAT CHARGES the phone/laptop,  so Alyssia went off to get some kind of thing that works from a vehicle battery and that's why i am here,  but what it means in particular this late evening is that Jude had posted something on Spirit Cloth that

was "to me"  about

neglecting self for too long

being integrated into her surroundings

formed around what she has to work with

and as i stitched…no batteries…i thought of these things.

I loved living off grid for ten years in the bush from 76 to 86 but embroidering by 12 candle light was for much younger eyes! Those small battery run lights that clip onto books are fabulous, using a few of them would make stitching at night possible.

I use solar powered Luci lights…just sit them in the sun to recharge and a charge lasts around 12 hours. They are around $15 – $20..inflatable with multiple light settings that give great light. I got mine from Amazon.

You have been immersed in a the experience of massive change, reacting to a new place and the presence of many people you haven’t lived with in a long time…or ever. You have been responsible for settling your animal friends into their new lives and building a suitable infrastructure for them, all without electricity and the conveniences it brings. It is no wonder that your own self has been submerged for a while. I am glad to see those fabrics hanging in your trailer…I think “you” will be busting out through them shortly.

in keeping with conversations you and i have had about
living “on the road”…this space is huge. And in
a different situation, if i wanted to stay living in it,
i would take out a lot of the things like the half wall
at the back of the table bench, the bed in that bedroom…
make that into a work room. The overhead cabinets are
    more than adequate storage space.

no. The plan is for Solar. Out in the horsetrailer, one half of it, is a panel that will be put on my hut when
it appears. and well…solar needs batteries to store
    energy, …..
and that place will have propane for refrigerator and
    hot water, stove etc.
there is still debate about regular electricity for
Alyssia’s home, again, when it gets here. She is
at the bottom of the Hill….
    Jenny’s home will be solar.
