Their world extends back and over to the Big Rim that looks down at the canal creek.   Like the doe Goats forest,  this too was dense with growth and not so much anymore.  But still a fine and Beauty Full world of sun Light and shade.  To one side,  between their world and the world of SunnyRay and Jack Flash,  a chicken yard was put in place.  First small and then enlarged as the chickens grew.   Most of the chicken yard was made safe with the deer fencing woven to the regular fencing and then draped in a canopy over the top.  Two small spaces were hard to cover but we thought it wouldn't matter as they didn't know Vertical Flight.  Wrong.  in two days,  Hey Hey was in with Nogal and Tenzen,   A day later,  Talkie.  Only the rooster, Cuddles, remained in the original space.  And so it went.  Alyssia cut the netting and a small door in the wire fencing to make easy passage,  not requiring flight up to branches.   Nogal is enamored by them…with? them? , both.  Enamored.

Tenzen remains pretty much in his own internal world.  Yesterday he spent quite a bit of time itching his gums on/with a branch.

A couple days have passed and the rooster (who was supposed to be a hen),  Cuddles,  is nowhere to be seen.  This may remain a mystery.

But for now, all is well here.  Days go easy.  There is room for every Thing they can imagine.  We have time between now and September to decide who, if anyone, gets bred.  To whom.  We will go over the papers that remain in that Storage Place down the road.  Track lineage and decide.  It may be that we send DNA to UC Davis to be sure of genetics from that breeding long ago now, 6 years.  Keep the herd Good.  For the children.

Emrie stood at the doe gate,  reaching in to Caroline,  who took her small finger in her teeth and bore down,  scaring her and scaring us….but seconds later,  she put her hand in again.  This time knowing .   She pulled her hand away,  just in time..just after the lips,  before the teeth.

This is wonderful, goat in love with hens, other goat doing self peridontal care and a little girl learning teeth and goat lips. I might be weird but this just makes me smile so much. Thank you for sharing. I will go to sleep smiling.

Animal personalities are so individual. Just like people! Maybe your rooster went to visit where the stray chicken came from? Alyssia was so wise to allow the chickens passage, I would probably only have fixed the fence to keep them in. Emrie will remember that goat experience the rest of her life. Bonding. My earliest memory at age two is of a neighbors caged raccoon combing my long hair as I put my head up to it’s cage. Such a yummy feeling it was. Will you be able to park your camper near your hut?

yes…keeping things IN becomes a huge issue and responsibility…and often not the best in the long run for anyone…animal or human animal. I’m really glad it was the decision. They still go to their coop at night and hopefully will go there to nest boxes when they begin laying which should be soon.
the camper will stay where it is until everyone’s Place is in place…be used by whoever needs it. Any time, Alyssia’s
home will be brought and she’ll be working on moving in which will take time.
there isn’t a flat space near the Hut, so no, not there. The only extended open flatish space is at Alyssia’s campsite A…maybe there? Or across the little road, which is a part of this piece, referred to as “quasi-public” in zoning….or sold even. it’s all in What IF
    realm right now.
    How are your plans going?????????????????????????????

I absolutely LOVE the names given to the chickens. My friend got chickens and one of the hens turned out to be a rooster. My daughter visits them and she says the rooster is a real goof and hasn’t a clue about what he could do with the chickens.
Always a happy day here when you post.

3 xthis looks like a good compromise, we electric fenced 3 x 1 acre paddocks for our milking cow when I lived out in the bush years ago, rotated the paddocks so the ground could have a rest every few months & used the car battery for power.

I will send you details in an email but plans are in the works for listing the house in September. Still researching vehicles as the cats are my main concern. And as you know everything takes much longer than hoped for to get things done and lined up. Onward bound is my main goal!
