this stool…made by Alz. Betty's husband in his first efforts at furniture making.  Had by me for many years,  just "outthere" sitting in the sun,  never really having a purpose,  which i guess means,  no Need for it….?   Brought from New Mex for no reason other than i had had it for so long.   It's perfect for Emrie,  who is enjoying learning to sit on things.   Here,  where we go often on these HOT afternoons to turn on her sprinkler,  or the mister.   At the place in the forest between B and C.

today,  they left early so when i went to that place in the forest between B and C,  where there is always a breeze  and where the Yellow Butterfly meets the other Yellow Butterfly and where the Yellow Jackets come to drink from the hose connection of  Emrie's sprinkler,  i found that the stool  also was a good desk.  Was hoping this pic might show how the cloth is puckering some because of the Kantha,  but i don't think you can see it, really.  I sit on the Earth.  I could bring one of the chairs,  but … i sit on Earth.   While i stitch,  i remember that i am "grounding" too.  Stitching and Grounding.

so,  in keeping with recent thoughts about "studio"….this is mine.  Where i work.  When it's available.

How sweet to see her sitting there in her world. & Seeing your cloth on the stool, the stool on you, you on the earth, & back again to the cloth- it all vibrates with energy, like those ripples between your stitches.

Although I’ve only seen a few pictures over time, it appears that Emrie looks very much like Alyssia … both of them beautiful
And I am humbled by your studio … less is more

Seeing the uses between the generations of that dear old stool .. what is old is new again. Perhaps the photo does not do justice to the beauty .. but seeing your stitched created rippling on that beautiful piece of fabric takes me back to before your move.

Both of you, at one with your space…Emrie taking in the moment of sitting on the stool, feeling the mist, closing her eyes to feel even more; she is simply adorable. You, feeling the earth rising from the ground, elemental in time and space as is this wonderful cloth, pulsing with the color of oak and sun, alive with the rippling stitch that reminds me of wind dancing through the canopy of your trees…
And how was the permaculture consultation?

I was also disappointed for you with the permaculture people cancelling. At 106 degrees I get frustrated just at the thought of… anything! That’s hard to deal with for heat. How do you tolerate it? Did New Mexico “harden” you to help your body be able to function at all? Does Alyssa deal with heat with her auto-immune DZ?
Emrie melts my heart, thank you for sharing her with us. Makes me smile.
The cast came off my hand today and I started stitching Kantha Stitch for movement both On the cloth and Of the thumb and fingers. I love how you have used it. It is a very grounding stitch.
Cool thoughts and soft breezes to you.

    SO BUMMED.
I have always done better with heat than cold. Cold…
very hard for me, Heat..these 100 plus days…there is always early morning and then evening that somehow i find so nurturing. Mid day, you just go so slow. For me, this is good discipline, the needing to go slow.
It is very hard on Alyssia. I don’t know how to even talk about that. How she just goes. Her intention, like
steel. Now, they, she and Emrie, work at needing to
wean from the breast. Emrie is demanding. Nurse for
10 seconds…go sit on the stool, play with the measuring cups, go back, wanting to nurse. In the heat. But they do what they need to do. I have the Greatest Respect for Alyssia. Huge. Tomorrow, Emrie will be ONE.
i was about to ask, but it’s your hand, then. Ok. thumb and fingers…
Does the Kantha help? it’s such a focused repetative movement, i wonder, does it help?
    I wish such Goodness to you..your hand…Love,

this is also the first year that i have not had Work
    away,
outside my own life. So in it’s way, it’s like vacation, no matter the temperature. In New Mex, there was Work Away and then Work Home.
but i think…we need to understand how to be with it. The Heat will continue…the changes…we need to learn it.
Here, so little humidity and for that i am so grateful, it makes so much possible.

The heat is stifling even to read about. My son in LA says anything under three digits feels cool these days. And then there’s always you, just going, as Jude notes. In language like this: to that place in the forest between B and C, where there is always a breeze and where the Yellow Butterfly meets the other Yellow Butterfly and where the Yellow Jackets come to drink from the hose connection
