i think a lot about Simultaneous.  Simultaneous realities,  Simultaneous selves.   Because i want to understand the reality of Simultaneousness.  Because i believe it to be real.  It takes such a particular kind of Willingness for a particular kind of Openness.  It's hard, still,  for me to stay in that place.

i just now took the trash dumpster down the hill,  down Carefree Way to it's place on Old Olive Highway.  There is city pick up.  We are on the farthest edge of this service.   Every Monday.  so…we are on the farthest edge of the municipality of Oroville California,  USA.    I looked up at the Hill.  No one would imagine what goes on here.  There's no sign of it,  this reality.  And from this reality,  there is no sign of that other reality that is playing out day unto day.  The noise of it.  the senselessness of it, the cruelty of it,  the  incessant flood of illusion.

This  is not who we are.

it keeps being said with every instance of the above.  This is not who we are.  And stuffed animals are placed,  Flowers, small signs and love notes and we say,  This is not who we are.  Candlelight vigils.  This is not who we are.   But more and more it is becoming

who we are.

so….how do i live?   How do i understand the simultaneousness of who we THOUght we were and who we are??????

Half,  or close,  to the human beings in this country are really ok with things that cause me such deep grief.  And we all live here.

we all live here.

more and more i am thinking that it is a necessary point in time,  where things will become so pointed,  so stark,  that something will happen…evolutionary,  whatever that might mean.  But something Big.

this Cloth is small,  simple in compositional pieces.  Today the branches of Tree began.  It comes from the REALITY that all the while that the other Reality is playing out,  there is one that is completely simultaneous that holds so Strong and so REAL,  day unto day.  The Sky,  Trees,  Growing of all manner of entities.  It continues along side of all that other,  of its own accord,  true to its own Song.  And though i watch all the Rest,  i can still Stand with This.  I can still  ASK this to take me in enough so i can just go,  holding my own simultaneousness.

Hazel of Handstories put a John O'Donohue quote today from his Beannacht/Blessings.  These few sentences:

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,

may the clarity of light be yours,

may  the fluency of the ocean be yours,

may the protection of the ancestors be yours

I cannot control what others do .. if only it were that simple. I can and do for others what I hope brings them comfort and in some special way some joy. For the first time on November 6th I will from 6 AM to after 7PM be working at my local voting site for the Election Commission. I am looking forward to a full day of seeing people doing the most important thing any of us can do and that is to VOTE. To take part and witness such a Day gives me such hope for better tomorrow’s. In my heart of hearts I know that each of us is doing something and that something is enough.

    Simultaneous reality:
We have a new next door neighbor: he is in his mid 40’s, Mexican American, divorced father of 6. Body builder type, lots of tattoos, etc. Two of his youngest boys live with him; one graduated from high school last year, works at Walmart, the other is a senior in high school.
Neighbor works as nurse assistant. On the first day that he moved in, he came over to say hello, tell us his name, Alan, shake our hands, etc. He and his boys worked like devils to clear up his weed infested backyard and told us how they wanted their yard to look like our garden. We invited them over and told them to pick whatever they liked from our garden as a Welcome from us. They ate grapes off the vine, (we gave them some of the raisins that we had made from our grapes) they picked tomatoes, popping the cherry tomatoes in their mouths, gathered some herbs and picked peppers and Swiss chard to take with them.
Alan showed me his souped up low rider, winner of many trophys, kept in the garage that he painted with a blue stripe to match the blue of his car. He showed me how he was fixing up his rental home, painting the arched doorway leading to the kitchen, a lovely sky blue color. Has put out a very old, large, beautiful clay pot out front with a small, handmade ladder that is so prevalent here in New Mexico. By his front door, he has a large pot of yellow mums.
Alan’s Dad came over to see how he and his grandsons were getting along and Alan invited me to meet him. His Dad has a vacation home in Arizona and since I have been in Arizona several times, we spoke about the state.
When we had to leave for our family emergency in California, Alan and his sons offered to water the garden, watch our house…Just before leaving for California, we had one of our chats and I mentioned the upcoming importance of the midterm elections and he got very quiet.I kept on talking and he looked up at me and said that he is a Trump supporter.
To say I was stunned would be an understatement. I found that I couldn’t say a single word for a few seconds. For me, it was such a disconnect…I looked at him, he looked at me and then I asked him how he could possibly support this man. He looked at the ground, then up at me and said that he and his boys had jobs, that they were in a place, economically, that they had not been before. I had no response and we left next day for California.
Since our return, things have changed, he smiles and waves but no longer talks and truth be told, I’m not sure what we would have to say. The events of this past week have rocked me to my core and I hold the evil at the top totally responsible for each and every incident.
Simultaneous reality…maybe I need to break through that and speak to Alan about last week but, for now, I don’t have the energy, heart or guts to do so…

I, too, would be stunned. Speechless. I was working with minimum wage people, no savings, no insurance-day to day almost–all loudly supporting Trump. They believe he will take care of them. I retired rather than continue working there listening to them cheer his every tweet.Easy for them, too hard for me.

Tami Simon (founder, publisher of Sounds True) interviewed Van Jones (author of The Messy Truth, CNN correspondent) for her Waking Up In The World series, and it is really a must-listen for those of us who don’t know how to respond when people are in opposition to our views. They speak for an hour, but it’s an hour very well spent. I’ve listened several times already. The only link I can find that’s free is on Facebook, and I suggest just listening, not watching, because they’re doing this online vs. face to face.

I read your post this morning and went away thinking about the preamble to the United States Constitution, “We the people…” And then started thinking about it in relationship to “This is not who we are.” Still thinking…it’s easy to get lost in the pronoun “we.”

Had a similar situation with my next door neighbor who is pro cheeto head. He was complaining about how can people be so sensitive as to take the Dukes Of Hazzards off of TV. What is so wrong with a bunch of guys running around in a pick up truck with a confederate flag? I reminded him my nephew is 1/2 black and that is the kind of thing that would terrify Tayon. Maybe not him, a middle aged white suburbanite. But this is a much different time and political climate. Why do “they” want to take away “our” history by tearing down statues? Who is “they” I asked. The people who want the confederate statues taken down. Well, again, that is also a part of Tayon’s history and he doesn’t like being reminded that his great grandmother was a slave. With no name, no property, no rights, no choice. Hmmm. So then I took the opportunity to stress the protest sign I wanted to make. NO JUSTICE NO PEACE NO LOVE NO JUSTICE I could tell he was a bit uncomfortable with that so I said that my favorite saying I had heard was when the cajun navy comes to help with rescues or hurricane help, they don’t ask if they are Democrats or Republicans. I was so proud that I could hold my own without loosing my temper or lunch. I had him thinking at least.
