they're getting ready to go home and i am listening for the hot water heater to finish heating water and say alould…i am goin to get ready to go.  Julian says for what?   and just then  there's a thing in the In Box of Email from Climate Reality Project:

" it starts with V and rhymes with goat"

VOte,  he says and yes,  i say.  Tomorrow i will Vote.  I want to be spiffy.  What , he says will you Vote for?,  the government?  and i realize how little he knows at 9 years,  so i say some stuff and as they are ready to leave,  i tell him that tomorrow when he gets home from school,  i'll tell him what i saw and what i did.  He wanted to know where i would go,  how far and i told him to the Bangor Grange Hall,  down Olive Hwy to Foothill,  left.  Not far from his school.

after they left, i walked down the Hill road to the car to get the bottle of wine there.  Groceries come up in segments…heavy,  and wine sometimes stays days down in the car.    I washed my hair in the outdoor shower nozzel.  and here i am.  writing this.

i am proud to vote for the first time in the State of California that is the vanguard for so much.  So much for the people,  so much for the Earth.   I'm proud of this.

Here I have my alarm set for 5AM .. have to be at my polling place by 6AM. It will be a very long day but I am really looking forward to being able to thank people in person for coming out to vote. This is my first time working as an election inspector and I am nervous about that but wanted in some way to participate in this very important election. I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow Grace casting your vote in California .. wow I even love how that sounds. I won’t get home till after 7pm .. the hardest part will be having to wait till then to hear any news about the returns. It be a telling day .. for sure.

when i tell Julian about the day, i will tell him about my Sister Tina in Wisconsin who worked as an election inspector. What that means to be an election inspector. What that means to be my Sister in Wisconsin. I’ll tell him everything.
BIG GIANT love to you, dear you….

I guess from Julian’s questions that they don’t discuss voting or the system of voting in the schools. We are going to vote tomorrow and then have a lovely lunch at someplace nice. Husband worked the phones for our Senator today.

I’m proud to know you. It’s raining in Manhattan NY and I’m awake too early to add one more photograph to my own post and post a few potent items on my FB page. Sleep has been erratic but I’ll make it to the polls here and throw my choices into the populace pool. May the force be with us all.

I don’t really align with pride but I do like that vote rhymes with goat.

Jude says vote rhymes with goat. So does the word tote and it is a heavy load that we carry this midterm election, but carry it we do, carry it from our participation in every form: from Tina, rising up early to carry out her duty as an election inspector, an inspiration to us all. grace, who proudly casts her first vote in the state that I was born in, California and me, my joy in the fact that early voting and absentee voting here in New Mexico, a state that was called the least politically engaged state, broke all records. Over 430,000 have voted compared to 250,000 who early voted in 2014…and so WE GO..

I’ll take that as a sign. For Maine–my state–that would be 100% turnout. Or even 200%.

We have mail in voting here in Washington. I think all states should have it but I do miss going to the polls.
I will take my ballot to the library and hand it to the person standing there working. There is a voter box there and she will put it in the slot. I could mail it in but prefer to take it.
    I am hopeful.

It is sleeting and trying to snow here today, but my voting place is at the end of my block. Nice to live in a small town. On my way.
