Doesn’t look that different from New Mexico. Blue skies..
I took my ballot to the library where there is a ballot box. We have mail in ballots. Watching tonight with hope in my heart and a glass of wine.

SO, how did it feel to vote in CA? Were there a lot of people at your polling place? If so,did you get a chance to speak with them?
So maybe the Blue Wave that we hoped for was not as large as anticipated: We didn’t get everything: Beto- but maybe in 2020? Abrams-runoff is real given the closeness of the race but worry about voter issues via Kemp.
Still, look what we did get: Democrats control the House and 31 more women were elected. (Republican women made some wins as well but I am focused on Democrats, since I am one) Here in New Mexico my joy in the huge numbers of early voters was justified as New Mexico went, for the most part, solidly Blue in every race with only 1 district, as far as I can find, going red. We have a Democratic female governor, MIchelle Lujan Grisham and we have voted for one of the two Native American woman in Congress, Debra Haaland.
This quote, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness” was actualized last night…may it continue.

..it is that amazingness of this huge country..we waited for a while ..to see if the pounding rain would let up..it didn’t .,.so my husband bundled up..he has been /is ill and we drove down the slippery dirt road to our tiny town firehouse and rain in..to discover the polling place had moved across the way to the historical society ..and were glad to hear the others who came in behind us laughing at themselves as well..as we all came in simply drenched..we sat on folding chairs in with folding screens around folding trays and were issued fat black permanent markers and three long pages with those oval bubbles to fill in..
we were truly anxious..our state rep has been targeted in a trumpian campaign unlike anything we have seen since we moved here…and there was a record turnout here…we went around 2 in the afternoon..and they were almost out of the I Voted stickers..it could not have looked more different from the picture above..and how lucky we are that at least in many ways..the experience is the same..gentle day grace

There were many hard losses last night, but many inspiring wins as well. Hope has been realized and there is much good work to do in the next two years.

I do wish I was better at putting into words how wonderful this experience was for me but imagine .. see me in your minds eye doing my Happy Dance.

My school gym voting place was FILLED with families. Parents and children. The parents explaining what was happening to the children. We got our I voted sticker from a young boy-12? and then clear sweet directions to the exit. It was raining. So many voters got rained on yesterday. Here in Maine–very cold also.
Our new governor is a woman. And a Democrat in this very red state.
