it's about 2 acres.  Enough for 2 or 3 sheep.  I'm thinking 3,  because a "flock" seems to be more than two?  Would 3 feel like a flock to them?   I don't know much of anything about sheep.  There are still around 600 animals over at the Gridley Fairgrounds.  A  lot of the horses have been taken out.  Horses are more uhhhh,  appealing.  Sheep and goats,  not so much.  They still though,  come to the pen fence,  put their faces up….their eyes.

there is so much to think.  it will take a long time to think it.  let all the threads weave.

go to Utube and type in Mercy Now   Mary Gauthier.  Maybe Jude can put it in the side bar.

i spent this day reintegrating all the stuff i took.  there is an odd feeling to it all.  I am looking at what i had not appreciated before and seeing it with all new eyes.  Comparisons.  Compared to a car,  this place is a palace.  Even tho the refrigerater is broken,  if you put a block of ice in it,  it holds.  Even though it is what it is,  it is DRY.  All my cloth is DRY.  I slept in a DRY place with a DRY pillow.

i washed stuff in the sink with hot water that i got from clicking on the propane heater.  washed all the dishes left from when we Gathered Goats and Left.  Fled.  We Fled.   i think of that word.  Fled.  hmmm.  we did.

midday,  no rain.  I went down to Lakeside Market to buy ice. All was gentle.  Now,  rain begins again and i hold no feeling about this now.  Not like last year,  when i came.  Now,  i hold no feeling.  Rain.  How Rain HOLDS things here.

I can’t quite tell from either your words or the photo WHERE you were. I assume from yesterdays words, back home on the hill. Hope so. Glad you had some dry sleep. Will you move the goats back soon? I don’t expect an answer. BY THE WAY “Mercy” is already on your side bar along with five others just as before. Your blog looks just like it always did and it is as though you were posting directly (but I know Jude is posting for you somehow). Frigid temperatures here on the East Coast had me happy to stay inside the apartment all day. Sending LOVE.

Yes, Mary Gauthier’s Mercy is a beautiful song. My grandmother has always had a few sheep. They stay in the fields close to the house to keep the grass down, for fire prevention. They aren’t completely trouble free, but I would say she feels it is worth it.

..all day ..and it was a very cold day..we were thrilled when we got up to 10 degrees…there was such a sense of peace flowing through the entire day…that you were home..that you were safe..that the Hill stood..
fled is such a full word..it carries so much ..but seeing the images of your food…your tea..and previously ..the golden light..the gold hills that still say home to me (personally i mean..not just as the pictures in your post ) the horrible impact of fled faded a bit and there was so much rejoicing here..for all of you..for the goats..and all that you have shared..so now i sit here..watching the light hit the snow..it is -3..seeing the strange and beautiful marks a circling fox has left..wondering if “my ” rafter of 16 wild turkeys will make their usual dawn journey up the edge of the meadow..just in my range of vision..it is ridiculous how i count them every day..but they have been amazingly resilient..
and there it is..resilience..luck..mercy..i am so grateful for it all but yesterday you and yours came to all of our lips over and over again..and filled the day with the sense of something so special..gentle day grace

    no. i am not.
i give that to the long long learning of meditation. of
learning to breathe through. I am alert. Like an animal.
Ears pricked. But no. i am not at all exhausted.
