what the Wall is really for.   For waiting,  till cloth begins to talk.   i have said that.  and maybe it sounds kind of frivolous…cloth talking…but it does.  I wait and listen.   try different things,  wait,  see if i am hearing correctly….listening for what else.  It's how the Making goes for me.  Nothing known in advance.  Waiting,  listening.

Butte County Sheriff's Dept posted a video of a deputy's body cam.  Maybe the only one.  A man walking,  breathing.  Loading his 3 human beings into a rescue truck.  Just Going.  He was just going.  No room for him.

MUCH RAIN today and WIND.  daughter Jenny always said there was not so much wind here,  and me,  who is married to Wind…well.,,,,,WIND.   Alyssia had sealed the roof to this travel trailer about a month ago.  Thinking all was well,  but today

WIND

came and ripped up the vent cover over the kitchen…a one foot square space into which Rain came.  A total bummer as she is working to get her stuff done for her schooling,  but she came and once again,  there is a tarp all over the top..  But now as i write this,  it's covered and secure.  There are flash floods across the Burn Scars.  Not here,  but nearby.

Earth.

    Paying attention to your words. I appreciate how you are able again to blog, to let cloth apeak, sleep in a bed, have some privacy to listen.

    ..so much Power..your words..the cloth..and the earth..well nature period…here the number of people without power has dropped from 25,000 at the beginning of the week..to 9,000..and it is not even comparable i know ..to California….and as one person said this week..which has been difficult..well we might as well enjoy the beauty..and everywhere trees are down from the heavy heavy snowfalls..and not from unrelenting fire..i am just sitting here watching the snow glow as the light begins..thinking about Grace waiting and dealing with water flowing..as i watch things come apart with water freezing..so much Power..
    so grateful that you are covered and secure ..may you have a gentle day

    May you be safe and dry: The notion of you waking up to greet the day by looking at your cloth wall fills me with joy…
    Yes, cloth does speak and eight years ago when I first started foraging for the gifts of the land to dye cloth, I didn’t think so. Ii experimented, dyed cloth, stacked it in drawers until I had too many so now what?! I began to take a few pieces and place them on my bed, arranging, rearranging until a voice came into my head and simply said, the gifts of the land need to be together and that began my long, sometimes painful as it took me a long time to feel comfortable with needle and thread, stitching of my landscape collages. It is still how I work, waiting for that special cloth whisper, cloth voice.

    Thank you Marti .. all this giving makes my heart sing. I can’t imagine how those who have lost everything find ways to keep going. But after reading Grace’s posts everyday and now these 2 articles I feel so proud and full of renewed hope that as human beings we are capable of mending our broken world. That is a line that comes to mind everyday as I am seeing and reading the posts from Mo as the pendants are arriving to join the gathering. I would post the link if I knew how. Anyway thank you again and again .. all of you and those that brighten my each and everyday.

    glad you have your design cloth up. it is a real testament to how a place becomes home when we do what we love (and hopefully stay dry!). I use big panels of felt-covered insulation for work in progress — pin boards. For me, it’s important to look at constructions ‘from the side’ — meaning, from different parts of the mind — not just the front facing mind. The links have been wonderful.
