we went to the Rocks.  Boulders, really.   In the distance a little,  you can see Talkie.  She came.

Solstice Eve.  the Rocks.  How Puppy,  usually not so much for photographs didn't mind.   This is how i would like to be.  Like Puppy,  indistinguishable from Place .   Simply, part of Place.  No more,  no less.  This is the wish i brought to the Rocks.

For you, for being a part of your place, for all who come here, for all who have survived so much, on this eve of Winter Solstice, on old Celtic Winter Solstice blessing:
“Deep peace of the running waves to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the shades of night to you.
Moon and stars always giving light to you.”

Grace-in that first image I see the head of a camel. I imagine him walking to your Hill and then deciding it’s a good place to rest and wait –staying so long he has turned to stone–waiting for you to arrive.
I have never celebrated Solstice so will do research to see how it goes.

Beautiful. Puppy.Talkie. Moss. Rocks. Marti’s Celtic blessing. But, Grace, you melded in so perfectly I couldn’t find you. You are more than just place. The place would not be there without you. Happy Solstice to you and many blessings. Love you. Alot.

it is so strange a solstice morning here…after over a month of snow and ice cob=vered ground..last night’s storm has raised the temperature as the world seems to be melting our cell phones flash with weather alerts..flash floods below us our road a small but quickly moving torrent..emmaline and i count six deer sheltering at the edge of the meadow..the wind is as she says ” so so loud”..trees bend and the ice melts in the yard are covered with ripples..it is hypnotic to stand at the window..no matter which way you look..it is wild and beautiful..and i can imagine you here as easily as i felt you to be part of New Mexico..and as much as i watch the enormous changes you have ??made?/ encompassed ?? in California as you watch and listen and become
huge swirls of mist are being blown across the valley below suddenly we are closed in..emmaline is now patiently standing with a basket of fir and cedar and pine.and pine cones and “bird berries and we are going to make shapes and garlands and wreaths or whatever..possibly simply breathe them in as we light a candle..we sometimes join friends in the night around fire outside the kids running in the snow until the singing draws them in..but i think this stormy solstice will find us right here ..happily sending out and gathering in..and holding you and all who come here in our thoughts..gentle day and longest night grace

hehe…the last picture I see a coho salmon, with the jutting lower jaw.
but i don’t see what the others see. interesting.
that puppy. she blends in so well, even tho she has no green on her. i didn’t see her at first, but did see talkie.
i have hummingbirds, the Anna’s stay all winter, the Calliope fly south. I have deer also. Jane Doe, and Joe Dough, and Big Jane doe. but mostly Jane Doe. we were worried about her, think she lost her mum to young, she was thin. but she went on to fatten up over the late summer. we leave the back gate open for her to get the always green plants that grow over the septic area.
