from"my" Holiday. 3 days till New Year's Eve. And since i am thinking about Julian's question, why no Christmas?, i am also thinking about New Year's eve. New Year's Day. Why they feel so Bright to me. I keep mending that pillow cover, stitch unto stitch and think. Above is half of the front circle immediate yard to Campsite B. Greening with new grasses. On New Year's Day, i will have some kind of Plan. I will have about 2 and a half months to set that plan into motion. Like very much the thought of that.

I am curious about the time limit for setting your Plan in motion? However long it takes, may it go well for you in this new year that is coming. I well remember your calendar ritual, New Year’s Eve, looking at the old calendar, jotting down notes from it,…a record of yearly life. Your notes from this year in CA, will be especially moving… As part of your usual ritual, will you have your special crab legs with butter?
Rituals, for me, are part of the yearly just going of my life; I have many and do similar things with my new calendar. Some years it is chosen from the dollar store, other years, my calendar is a gift from family or friends. This year I have two calendars, a National Geographic Traveler calendar from my sister in law (love these because the whole world is before me) plus we also received from our grand kids, a photo calendar of times spent with them, their parents, their Aunt and friends, lovely moments of the year. Photo calendars are special and I don’t write on them; usually put them in the kitchen to gaze and hold the happy memories of togetherness.
No one can know what the year holds or even be prepared for what comes but what we can do is put one foot in front of the other, hold to the rituals that form our days, look at our old calendars, note the events that shaped us during the year, make notes, open our new calendars and take a deep breath of hope for the New Year. The wall calendar is part of my life, I don’t have an I-pad or smart phone where important dates, appointments, addresses are kept…live very simply with probably one of the first flip top phones ever made. For me, opening the cover of a new calendar, turning to January is like opening an awaited book- what adventures, joys, sorrows will present in this year that is coming? This yearly ritual anchors me for the coming year in ways that I have no words for but only know that it is how I go…LikeLike

One more thing to note on calendar today: blizzardy snow. Temps dropped 4 degrees since I got up at 4 am, now 23 degrees. You lived here you know how it is, I lived there, was born in CA, I know how I wished for snow growing up…have lived in deep snow in the Cascade Mtns of WA but still, today, it is cold, snowy, winds dancing a cha cha across the sky, scattering snow confetti…and so it goes, a good way to see 2018 out…

Greetings back to you Maria. I will be thinking of you on Dec. 31st and send best wishes to you and your family for the New Year. Another little story here about snow : Gathered up some trash to take to our garbage cans outside, one for regular, one for recycled items and couldn’t get the lids off- snow has turned more into ice now and the lids are iced over and clamped shut…sure hope we get some sun so those lids can thaw out and I can put away our trash…

well…i said 2 1/2 months, but that’s not right as
I thought about it. Much less.
No matter the status of building there, my planting
at B needs to go forward. Which means it needs to
get fenced. I need to haul whatever ammendments i think
i need and get them into the soil in order to plant
in February. I had been thinking March.
I’m have a hard time deciding on how much to fence.
Good thing is that it will also fence Emrie IN, so
as i work there, she can roam around and i won’t have
to worry about her falling off that cliff.LikeLike
