like i know Emrie,  now.  From Birth.

Alyssia is like some kind of Bower Bird.  She collects and places stuff.   not for a mate,  but for her Self.  All this stuff, infant  to toddler,  bright plastic colors.  Drives me nuts.  This bed,   no where really to put it,  but it was on Craig's List.  The mattress is the one i used in the car at the Fairgrounds.

When you know someone   A Being,  from birth.  And then somehow they are  Women.   ?    How does that happen?  And i forgot to say.

there in the foreground is a bird.   I'd set it there,  knowing i was going to go there to take that pic.  Dead bird,  its eye,  just a circle in its skull.  I took it to the Janet Chair over at the Young Manzanita.  Set it.  Life.  it's short and well,  short.

She’s trying to make a HOME. A nest. A safe place. I know how that is. Feels.
    And plastic is forever.

The photograph! Such contrasting elements…the pink plastic and the little bird. Without knowing context it kind of stands alone and one might think – anything.

I know that feeling of knowing someone from birth and seeing their life. It is so odd to see what they become and how they act. We usually can tell what motivates them but we are removed from their thoughts. I go through this daily with granddaughter that is in my life. A pink plastic bed? So different from our generation…

that’s her thinking. She’d never buy any of it new, but
says that it exists, so should be used. There
is a huge exchange that goes on through craig’s list
these baby things exchange hands over and over and over
she will post them when Emrie outgrows.

yes. different. But also, there’s not the same scenario.
We had basements or attics to store things…that wooden crib
and highchair, the bassinette. When you move now and then,
things don’t go along so much.
She got this with hope it would encourage Emrie to nap
in it. Well, to nap period.
She’ll take it to the new place now that there’s
a new place to take it to.
and it’s just baby stuff. Stuff that’s outgrown in months.

    i laugh…plastic is forever…that’s the truth.
As i said to Jude below. These items get passed
on and on through Craig’s List. I think this
and it’s good crib mattress was $10. She’ll
pass it along that way or Goodwill.

fortunately, for me, it’s only baby stuff.
and too, it’s a committed recycle.
Also…thinking, there are next to Zero used wooden
things like cribs, highchairs. There were many
when i looked for them 40 years ago. Not any more.
and if bought new are very expensive for items that
    only are used for months.

Cute bed, very pink, very plastic! It’s incongruous though in your earthy space. I see it here, on Pay it Forward sites, the baby/toddler stuff moving along and around….it’s great.

We practice a lot of ‘curb to curb’ around here.Find a thing, try it out, tire of it, set it back out on the curb for someone else to try. But what a contrast between the dead bird and the pink toddler bed. Almost painful in its sharpness.
