around strawberry plants.   We planted two single plants….they are Many .  They "winter" well.

finished about a third of the whole.  There are

MANY WORMS in the new compost,  but also in the garden…when i'd move a rock….worm.  JOY for me,  these friends

and a volunteer Storks Bill,  Crane's Bill.  probably 16 or more inches diameter…blooming a little and already some seed pods.

it's surprising really,  that there's only one….maybe more will start from seed.

it was maybe 62 degrees,  passing clouds in a Sky Blue Sky.  Tay lounged at the edge of the hill there.  Puppy napped at the base of the Young Fig.  There were now and again bees.  The tree frogs have begun their 24/7 singing.  Goats were doing something else.  PeaceFULL.   Friday begins big Wind/Rain for some days.

i went down wearing a t shirt, a long sleeved shirt and my jacket. Within minutes the jacket was off. By the end of the few hours of work i was in the T shirt.
I pulled Julian’s tomato plant and re planted it in a landscape pot. It needed water. The hose has been off for months and nozzle wasn’t working, water spewing, my legs got wet..levis…my arms. But in this day, it was just ok and fine. The FRAGRANCe of Earth, Water, roots….that
    was intoxicating and sooooooothing.
I still don’t fully take in the way of it Here, it is so different than anything i’ve known before.

i spoke to my brother in Minnesota last night and to Kay in Michigan just now. I am just sitting here. Thinking of the things they said. How it is here. How HERE is where i find myself…I really am not sure what to think about any of it

Seems to me you could not have ever imagined that all this would come to be .. how things come to be cannot always be explained and most certainly not planned. It is a bit like Heaven on earth .. as warm and as wonderful as that rich soil you’ve worked into gold.

Your daughter and granddaughter built beautiful raised beds. Easy for reaching across to plant and weed.
A good height. It’s a pleasure for this old gardener to see, watch and enjoy.

am glad you say this because i was so thinking about
that…i’m a small person and the Ease of working this
    space is just so Great.
Its first purpose was just as a retaining wall to
compensate for the part of the hill that was cut away
to make a flat space for Alyssia’s home to be. Dimensions
according to Code for that. But they quickly saw it to
be also Garden and had top soil brought and filled in.
It could not be more perfect, how it worked out.
Last year, my first Growing season, was so much playing
by ear. This time, so exciting to see that we learned
so much. I have this day today, Thursday, to do as much
as i can. Next 4 days will belong to WEATHER….i am
find a rhythm. Weather Days i sew.

Yes, that is how I organize my days as well. I hope this summer brings more rain days. Today is sunshine and 9 degrees. Too cold for the dog to have his walk. Good for reading, studying my permaculture books. Thinking about making my garden beds taller. Easier. I too watched the video of the lovely teacher making tall pots. I loved seeing her with those beautiful purple beans. I must find out what kind they are–grow them in my garden.

    Gabriela, you touch My heart.
Yes. Czechoslovakia. My maternal grandmother called it
Moravia. I wish i could spell the exact place, can’t,
but i can say it…speak it. Begins with Jzero or
something….i have maybe 2 stories about that Place there,
a photograph of her graduating class of Nursing School…
she was a midwife. She traveled from there to Saskatchewan Canada, then down into the United States.
I never knew her. She died before i was born, but i have a single picture of her and i think of her as i work here. She would have approved.
Thank you for coming here. It means a lot to me. Thank You, Love
