we had wondered what we could plant along the fence.   Now,  in profusion,  this Vetch.  Only on this section i assume because it's where there are 3 grapevines that we had watered all summer up till fall.

the grapevines need pruning but need to be found first…are hidden.  Vetch…bees love.  a legume.  nitrogen fixer.

it’s pouring RAIN…all day and those plant people are amidst water flowing down the hill, that SOAKS in, only some running through. GREEN. GREEN is the color here. This world soaks in RAIN and creates GREEN.

Nitrogen fixing–the best thing for the plants. Oh, to see a color other than white or black.
we are having a VERY COLD night with wind, Ice,&Snow on the ground. Vetch. Is it edible?

Those blue tubular flowers…look so much like Nightshade but surely isn’t. Is it? Nightshade is poisonous.

Vetch has been a long lost friend of mine since childhood. Apparently the farmer who owned this hill had mixed it with some grasses and used it to cover the bare dirt. That became the field next to my house. I loved this plant with it’s lacy leaves and it could be mixed with queen anne’s lace for a wonderful bouquet. Fast forward to Maryland where they planted crown vetch on every hillside to prevent erosion and fast growth for highway and bridges. Not as special to me as the purple stuff. Then I moved back here and it still grows and blooms in the same field. Almost 50 years of reseeding itself! All you say of it is true. Plus it is a close personal friend of mine! Love.

The purple in your vetch matches the mountain laurel blossoms that are opening up here … and our chairs are kin to yours, the wind turning them every which way but up
