i came up from the creek with this image in my head.   Wanting to make it.    I want to make it with scraps and botanical mark and drawn line.   I keep trying to work that way because it is able to say the most for me of what i experience.  I don't know how to do it.  I don't know anywhere that someone is working this way?  Do you?

is it possible to get it to translate in a cohesive image?

sitting there,  on the bank of the creek,  lost in thought,  i looked up to meet the eyes of a large lizard.  Not this large, of course,  but its Presence WAS this large.  We engaged each other as equals.    For a long time.

(((Grace))) your work is so full of The Hill and the spirits of place, the way you intuit the cloth and work with line and stitch is impeccably from your deep heart with skill honed through Time

Grace, your own way of working with what you experience. . .the way you can draw the feeling and then shape the cloth. . .unique to you. going beyond with all you have learned.

Yes it is possible for every cloth that you have made, came from your seeing place, your heart place, your love of what presented before you and it translated, transferred into cloth and spoke the story of how you connect…
You asked if anyone works this way: I do, I see the land, feel the pulse and go to cloth to represent the story that I am being told. Is it cohesive? Sometimes. Do others intuit what I am saying in cloth?Sometimes. Does the story change as the scraps of cloth form? Sometimes. For me, the process of gathering what I dye with, pinning the scraps, seeing story flow, however it comes,is enough. The old saying, “it’s the journey, not the destination” is how it is for me and cloth. Maybe for you, it is the destination, the reveal of what has spoken to you, sparked a cloth. It is all fine because we all converse with cloth, with the elements, with story in our own way.

yes to all your thoughts above. What i was specifically
thinking about was (is) if i can combine all three
mediums as distinct…the dye patterns, the collage
cloth and mostly, the drawing…pencil/pen. Sometimes
    it just happens spontaneously.
i think what i need to do, or what would be valuable,
is to try to understand what the importance of that is
for me….why do i keep wanting to do it. so much.
