i only made one prayer today.  I spent a lot of time with it.

i saw that there is prayer going on at Spirit Cloth,   at Liz's  Blog.  I thought about the fact that there is prayer going on,  even among those who don't ordinarily pray,  I wonder if this is an indication of how helpless we have come to feel,  that we are inclined to entertain ways we thought had no meaning?

I told Julian today,  after school,  about selling prayers. He wouldn't even look at them.  He doesn't believe in prayer and i told him maybe that was all the more reason he might want to buy one.  (he still has birthday money from last year)  He thought

selling prayers is very questionable.  I pointed out that the Catholic Church has sold prayers forever. Masses.  Prayer Cards,  Candles.  He said…"well,  that's Catholics.  You're not catholic".    He has made me doubt.

there are two Cloths in the Shop.  It took forever to de~code the new changes to get them there.  But they are there

Grace, If I could find my copy of it I would send it to you. But since I can’t I will hope you have a library that has it. The book is adolescent fiction by Kim Antieau called The Church Of The Old Mermaid. It reminds me so much of you and Alyssa and Julian. Great easy read.

I love that Julian is so definite in his opinion, no doubt there. And not from you either. Might Julian have another name for them that sits more easily for him? I love all these little prayers, precious and solid. xxxx

I thought the same thing and wondered if “wishes” would work for him.

One might call them ‘Intentions’ because that’s what a prayer might denote. One ‘prays’ to an entity outside of oneself, but one utters an ‘intention’ from within. They are worthy and lovely dear Grace.

I understand Julian’s point of view. For me though, the prayer is going to be there whether you call it that or not. For those of us that want to mend, that make, that make choices and take action in ways that are based on our value systems, we are always in the act of prayer. That’s my definition at least…. I look at the cloth that I bought from you, the one that you have said was the last made in New Mexico and I see a prayer of gratitude. In the clothes that I have from Hazel I see prayers for joy and for wonder. And in Jude’s I see a prayer for a safe journey. I think mostly I pray for resiliency….

Prayer by any name is something beautiful and desperately needed during good times and bad times. I find joy and comfort in prayer. I’m grateful for all my prayers that have been answered. I would very much like a prayer made by you for me .. I will email you.
