from Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm into the Dreaming of the Earth    Stephen Harrod Buhner

"a unique part of the plant root,  the root apex (or apices,  which are  perceiving sensory organ,  and brain neuron.  Each root hair, rootlet and root section contains an apex;  every root mass millions,  even billions, of them.  For example,  a single rye plant has more than 13 million rootlets with a combined length of 680 miles.  Each of the rootlets are covered with root hairs,  over 14 billion of them,  with a combined length of 6,600 miles.  Every rootlet  every root hair has at its end a root apex.  Every root apex acts as a neuronal organ in the root system.  In contrast,  the human brain has approximately 86 billion neurons,  about 16  billion of which are in the cerebral cortex.  Plants with larger root systems,  and more root hairs,  can have considerably more brain neurons than the 14 billion contained in rye plants;  they can even rival the human brain in the number of neurons.  And when you look at  the interconnected network of plant roots and micorrhizal  mycelia in any discrete ecosystem,  you are looking at a neural network much larger than any individual human has ever possessed."

the words in all this i liked best were:  discrete ecosystem

discrete ecosystem

do you see,  in her hair,  the very large Feather?

we Gave water at the wall Garden and then sat.  Talked.  Then went back,  up  the Hill.  Looking.   We had found a good small home,  on a flat bed,  wheels,  up near Redding.  The price was good.  actually,  very good.   Nice.  We stood and looked at B.

it would take some equipment to placed it there.  First and foremost,  this is a HILL.  But it probably could  be done.  Probably.  If there would be a hitch,   there are two trees.  Trees.  A pine and a scrub oak.  If there was a hitch,  they would be sacrificed,  chain saw.

I can't.

I  just can't.

We walked further and looked at the   old second Buck forest.   It's relatively flat.  A way in  could happen,  just a couple trees and some small scrub.   How many roots,   i am thinking?  …..in this Place that has been ItsSelf for so so long.  Again..  I can't.

so i think the decision has been made.  Where i am is where i will be.  The windows are Great.  It's dry and in the wet months,  it's warm.   I am near the Goats.  Near where i will milk,   if there is milk to be had.    I am done thinking about it.  I'm here.  OK.  Done.

The feather says it all. Whichever way the wind blows, the feather knows which way to point. It’s simply astounding and super fine that comparison of plants and people. Thrilling really.

OK, a decision is made; so many factors in consideration but it is done and has to bring some relief. Are all of your boxes out of the storage unit and at Alyssia’s? Maybe in the coming months, you could get a small storage shed, (you had mentioned this before) and the boxes could be moved so that they would be at hand…OR, did you go through everything and take what you most needed, wanted and now have them with you in your home?

yes…no storage unit for a couple months now. A lot
of stuff is at Alyssia’s…all the books…
A lot is in boxes at B…sitting in the frame of the
little house there…just on the ground. I have been
going through them a little at a time. Taking a few
things out, bringing them here. Separating what can
Go and what might still be kept. Right now i have
two plastic tubs with things i want. The tubs are
watertight. Just the other day i went over to retrieve
the long pyrex baking dish for the Zucchini Pizza.
we’ll see what happens now. Seems there’s something in
    the air….
A lot of people in Paradise are selling large travel
trailers they either bought or were given after the fire.
They are moving back into standing homes or moving On.
She’s watching….thinking of bringing one here for
her and the kids. subleasing her rental home in Oroville.
That could mean many things…that things might be able
to go forward here more efficiently on the good side to
losing the place where the batteries that power this
place [then, a similar place for her] presently are charged
up….that’s a big obstacle. But that also could
    push Solar into reality.
Time moves so fast. It’s September, the winter season
rains begin November. Remember…it began when i was
in evacuation at the Fairgrounds last year? The Fire
    was November 8.
There’s a lot to think about.

Sounds like you are feeling wonderfully grounded .. that in itself is more than most of us can ask for.

(((Grace))) you step so gently on the land, back in the early 80’s I lived on a communal property of a few hundred acres, the man I lived with camped for a year at his house site to work out the best aspect for the sun & then built a little wooden house, adding on one room at a time over time. We went our separate ways when the Blue Gum that was well over 150 feet tall out the front of the house dropped a branch as he was getting out of his car. Eucaplyts are reknowned for shedding branches and are commonly known as widow makers, the branch just grazed his shoulder & didn’t squash the ute but he cut the tree down with a chain saw the next day, he built that house next to that tree then cut it down, I have never forgiven him.

I’ve been to a lecture on trees recently, a Dutch woman Maia Kooistra, she observes them and has developed an interesting tree-theory, they range from solar to lunar….her book 9n this wiil be out soon in Dutch, will order it and post about my fi dings
