I want something that gives the Sense of the Oaks here, Sierra Nevada Live Oak. Filling in with stitching would make them seem heavy. They are large and sprawling, but there is no sense of heaviness. They are very Spirit filled. I'd like to find a way to express that. It's taking time.

if your Sierra Nevada live oaks are like our Texas live oaks, then their leaves surely sparkle like diamonds in the sun … a kind of light-ness that would be quite a challenge to convey in cloth

Just by the way you have stitched the oaks so far, I think you have shown their spirit filled essence; thought about suggesting maybe a few of their leaves, one or two falling to the ground, given what Liz described above, would surely speak further of spirit…AND knowing how much I loved your stitched feather grasses, how you made them alive by stitch, I know that it will be so with your beloved oaks.

The spirits are guiding you with this one .. it is coming along beautifully. Take your time and trust the process .. that is the greatest gift Jude’s classes taught me.

they are, alike, and i will use Deb Lacativa’s cloth
for that.

i’ll do that with tiny scraps of Deb Lacativa’s
cloth. They keep many of their leaves year round.
