She DID it!!!!!!! oh, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I got a call yesterday from Parker,  Arizona.  From our community's sister,  Peggy McG.    She was in town to buy supplies and go to the laundromat,   and so had phone connection.

SHE IS THERE!!!!!

Parker is a town just outside of   Quartzsite,  Arizona  where since 2008,  the Bob Wells  RTR,  Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, occurs yearly.

I don't know when Peggy and I began watching his UTubes together,  but we did it for a long time.  Me in New Mexico,  her in Minnesota.   She clicked in to me because of how i left Michigan,  in 1989,  in a 1973 Ford Econoline Van.   Went to Oregon, Arizona,  back to Michigan, and on to New Mexico….initially determined to live in the Van,  Fern,  Forever.  I didn't.  And I never did get to Quartzsite either,   which was my second Intention…to the yearly Gem and Mineral Swap Meet  there.  I ended up,  over and over,  holding down "some kind of fort" in various Somewheres.

Peggy,  however,  DID IT.  She is THERE!  Last summer,  she methodically divested her Self of Stuff.  Sold her House.  Bought a Van,  had it fitted out,  and set out By HerSelf  and  i get this call.  

I am SO BEYOND HAPPY FOR HER and vicariously for me….she's doing it for both of us.  Just am SO HAPPY!

U Tube.  Bob Wells,  Cheap RV Living    in general.   2019 RTR,  November 9th ~ 20th  specifically.  He will be doing Vlogs from there daily.   8 years ago,  when the RTRs began there were 40 people in attendance.  This year 5,000.  They camp on BLM land and offer workshops and hands on work for  those wanting to live on the road.  It's extremely beauty FULL.  Go look.

I think everyone who reads here has a home.  I have a home of sorts.  But still….it's just THRILLING to imagine living like this.  Taking the minimum,  WakingUp in the vast Beauty of national forest campgrounds in a very small HOME that has everything a Home might need.  Being  FREE.   FREE.   She took her sewing machine.

I love you Peggy.  Thank you so much for it ALL and yes,  i do hope you make it over this way in the next Soon time.

    Good going, Peggy.!! I remember you from last year when Grace was staying at the campground in Gridley. I remember you saying how you and Grace had watched many videos on outfitting cars to live in. Good for you for taking that step!!! How great to achieve a dream of such magnitude!

    good luck Peggy , i feel free in my way of living even it is totaly different ; the feel free is in the way i go on with the material in my head ; just take a lot of care for them in respect because everything is in everything but is not ours , we know about the illusion , do we ?

    The elation vibrations emanating from this post fair-near knocked me over when I first read it last night. But instead i let it put me to sleep with a smile.
    Held off commenting until i could have my memory jogged. So so soooooo much wanted one of our cosmic connections to be having hit the open road sometime in the 80’s (’82 for us) in the same year econoline. But alas i have just learned his/ours was a’70. These now partially mythic vehicles are definitely live-able. We did it for the first five and half years of being together (when it died for the last time and we had no place to keep it until there might be time/money for another resurrection) on both short and endlessly long road trips.
    I recall Peggy in the same context as Jaime and echo her emphasis on the triumphant follow through on a dream. May she travel always in joyous freedom wonder and safety.

    yes…having watched all those UTube episodes did
    come into play at Gridley.
    i am so so looking forward to hearing Peggy’s

    Maria, yes…it’s the material in the head….but also
    too, there is an unparalleled Flight in setting out
    on the Road with just unknown ahead…

    you might really love this as you get ready yourselves.
    These Rendezvous offer invaluable experience…everyone
    that attends is so hyped to offer their experience
    and knowledge. As I think i said…it’s all FREE…
    there are groups that actually do Work on your
    vehicle. Endless suggestions.
    Would be a great way to look at so many alternative ways
    before deciding what you might want to try.
    Also…it’ situated so that there is close proximity
    to places to camp that are away from the hub…

    yes…it’s so interesting….it’s all possible there…
    the campsites that are Away from all the Goings On…
    solitude so coming into the large group can be
    at one’s own comfort level and the top requirement
    set up by Bob Wells is respect for the Whole. He is
    so clear about this and it’s amazing to me that it
    WORkS. I watched one of the offshoot UTubes yesterday,
    a woman who ran a group for just women this year…
    so single travelling women could gain know how and confidence. and yup…the mythical Quartzsite.
    When i was part of that Bookstore in Ann Arbor, a man
    would come and sell us gems and minerals. He’d been
    going to Quartzsite for YEARS and i spent hours getting
    him to tell me stories.
    And as i think about all this…well…..you know,
    it’s not that far away….maybe i could still go.

    i wondered in the beginning…would she really do it?
    Fern was the most excellent vehicle. She’d been fitted out
    for camping by the blind piano tuner who sold her to me.
    Had a small area with a little sink and a counter for a camp
    stove and food prep. Shelves there.
    I had packed all my stuff (smile, cloth and books) in
    banana boxes…all same size and used them as “furniture”,
    a bed and chair and little table. I made a little Altar
    in one of the side wall indents.
    And then when i bought the faux airstream, she got fitted out
    with a special system of a hitch, i forget what you call it
    and with no effort hauled that back and forth across country.
    Peggy brings this all back so vividly…it’s just Great!

    Thank you all for the wonderful comments and super thanks to you Grace for telling of my adventure! I have almost no internet here in the desert just outside Parker Az and at 3:00am was able to connect. Hope able to get this post out! The less I write the better chance of it posting…Love to All!
