as i was told….Tay and i went to the Old Fallen Tree again. She is very intensly interested. She smells. Long and Deep but she doesn't disturb a single thing. I sat. Then before leaving, rested my hand. Leaned over and placed my ear against Old Fallen Tree. Silence.
at the end of next week, when Rain comes, everything will change. It will be immediate. Things have waited Long, are Ready.
Overstory is at the top of my next to read pile. Have loved the comments of the last few posts and these lichen photos.

Sometimes Finn gets especially interested in a spot on our walk. I found out from a neighbor that one of those spots was the site where a coyote killed his cat. Now I wonder every time he really gets interested.

I used to notice how the cats would smell the car tires when we came home from a trip. It’s nearly impossible not to pass over road kill here. I always wondered what the cats thought about us…eeek

Ah, a fallen Log Hotel! I used to have a great children’s book by the same name. It goes into such great detail about who and when new critters move in.
