i look at Her.   I "dressed" her.   in a single scrap,  a leaf  and the sprig of dried miner's lettuce.   it's Enough.   More than  enough.   Great satisfaction in this.   (Kathy O….another Little Bird)

Hollyhock's second year

20200327_155104

in the little A meadow,  down by the grapevines….not there last year.   Tiny.   There are many.   I think about how so many plant beings have 5 petaled blooms

think more about "what i say,"   or would say,  in the forest here.   to the presence of the Trees,   the Earth.   How the constant play of that mind tape is meaningless.    How Breath,   sound,   as in toning,   is  Of this Place.   How "words",  that are visuals,  can have meaning.   But the endless ceaseless whir of words means nothing and actually might be uncomfortable to a leaf.

I have this thought/opinion about how we as humans spend so much time qualifying our life’s experience. Hot, cold, breezy, dry, wet, quiet, loud, high pitched, booming, oniony, strawberry like, capsicum, salty, milky, hard, easy, and so on. Describing all of our sensual experiences, sometimes judging, sometimes not. But these are human experiences. Other animals do not find the same meaning in those experiences. I would love to know how the “others” experience these things. I know my cats freak out if I change my pants. Then they don’t know me. I would love to know how a tree experiences change.

I highly recommend reading “Lab Girl”, by Hope Jahren. The book is a memoir, not just about trees. My favourite chapter is about Spruce Trees, in Sitka, Alaska. I shamelessly offer this quote: “A beautifully written memoir about the life of a woman in science, a brilliant friendship, and the profundity of trees. Terrific.” —Barack Obama, via Facebook.
Clothing and animals – my ravens and crows come to chat with me ~ every day in early morning and at dusk ~ when I have on my oldest, raggediest red plaid flannel shirt. You have smart cats!

Yes so nice. I feel a kinship for her transformation – she who pulled me back into something I could recognize.
Mainly though it is the Hollyhock’s image that pulls me this time. If I were able to visit in person I’d stand before it endlessly…
