they live.   The clover and the Crazy Grass all among them…i pull  to free space for them.   Free sunlight.   I don't know what to do.

the mullein,  her second year when a spire and a bloom will come.   And on the wall behind and above,  a beautyful example of that Crazy Grass…it's tenaciousness,  fierceness that you just have to marvel at

the across the road neighbor.   This is across Carefree Way.   They raise horses but also alternate pasturing of cattle,  sheep and sometimes even Goats.   Geese.  Chickens.   It's a very Vocal place.  All day you can hear the doings there.   There is no access to CareFree road…their entry is at  the top of their Place and over at the far side,  above the rooster swamp.

i went down early.   my bag that Deb Lacativa sent some long time ago full with what i might need…coffee in a thermos,  the phone,  pencil and paper,  u nails for the cucumber trellis,  other stuff….   intending to spend the day.  and i did.   no hurry. None.   I did things and sat inbetween the doings.    All into the time to do the evening feed of Goats and they were somewhere else,  so i leisurely filled their pans that are outside that A garden fence now that Caroline and the two little ones are sequestered.  I don't know where they were,  so i just went out in the road up and CALLED,,,,GOAtS!!!!   Come Come…GOATS!  Onna,  Onday!!!!!   ComeCome and they did,  like a herd of buffalo,  raising dust.   Here…you would never know that there is What There Is Out There.    Here there is no sign of it.   It's vibratingly Alive  and ALIVE and WELL…it is so so WELL.  I think of this.   The virus is organic,  it is a living thing,  rising up from the same Earth?   Being "born" and living.   ???????

That’s a gorgeous mullein. Love the look of the second year leaves – cupped and arched in deference to the flower stalk long before it appears …

i laughed….i suppose if they took a pic from their place, this place would look the same…
it’s pretty crude here. people wise. not the usual
    air bnb
but if you were ok with it….
it is EXTRAORDINARY and beyond. there is no way to tell it. Blindingly Stunning.

(((Grace))) loving your stories & photos from The Hill, thankfully gardening is still deemed an essential service here in Australia. Our outdoor garden maintenance and what’s left of the indoor plant hire jobs are not only keeping the roof over our heads but helping to keep a semblance of sanity happening…

if we could all live with more space between us, it could be different. but then there would be other things.
still waiting for plants to awaken here.

Things are popping here too, not as far ahead but coming. Picked the first slender stalks of rhubarb. And yes, it is easy to forget out in the garden.

This morning, daily outing in backyard to see what new has sprouted up…little rosemary tree that we had for Christmas is doing fine now planted in the ground. As I continue to check on growing things, I hear the sound of a sliding glass door and Alan, my next door neighbor, comes out, mug of coffee in hand and he talks to me over the fence. He is tired but smiling because his lone tree, he is not sure what it is has white blossoms, kind of like our pear trees and it makes him happy.
Life on the front lines of this virus: Alan is an LVN who works in an assisted living facility. He is responsible for 28 elderly patients and so far, no virus but he worries and admits to being scared at times. Says if he or his patients get it, will be more than a 14 day quarantine, more like a 30 day one…with all that he is doing, he asks if he can get us groceries or do we need anything? I thank him and tell him that we are fine and that Rich likes to do the early morning Senior citizen shopping and I ask him if we can help him with getting groceries for him. He smiles and says his boys and sister are getting what he needs and he is also shopping on days off.
No matter how bad it gets, there is always time for a little over the fence chat, joy in what is blooming and so it goes…

lovely and green in your part of the world, here too green shoots, grass is growing already and has been mown once in our garden; the early tulips are blotches of bright colour, the trees are mostly bare apart from the willows with catkins and subtle pear blossom lighting up in the twilight
I am so incredibly grateful we live in the countryside, are able to wander out and about, social distancing is a way of life
grateful too for our prime minister and government dealing rationally and carefully each day with the ever-changing updates
I barely follow the news during the day after a small dose of breakfast news, catching up during evening news plus a talkshow or too
I hope fervently you and your family stay safe, well and as healthy as possible
these are weird times – sending love from afar xxx

Blue sky, green trees, puffy clouds, strawberries, miner’s lettuce, goat berries, and a fantastic mullien. If I were healthier I would come and visit. That is how I lived when I was younger and like many old hippies would love to do it again. No airBnB. Old dreams.
