we startled EachOther. at first. I moved a bowl that had been in place a long time and at first, in the first nanosecond just saw movement, but then….Her. She stopped. There was eye contact. and then just a long Pause. we beheld EachOther. We were still. And then She went along. and i continued Giving Water. in a way….we were together. it felt good to me, knowing She was there. I hope it meant someThing to Her.
You know it ment something to her….spirits connect….give and go on

I’ve been experiencing something similar with birds here especially robins, cardinals, and gray catbirds. We spot each other and then just sit there and look at each other.
I think that non-humans recognize kindred spirits in humans.

I love what you said about recognition. Have felt it was true for awhile but am never sure if it’s more what I want to believe. Just reading someone else with the same thought gives the thought itself a greater meaning to me.
Catbirds were a new neighbor for me when we moved here. Now I consider them treasured friends.
