Thank you Yvette! One fire in a park in Tacoma WA was too close to one daughters home, thank fully out now. We live close to hiway 16, where many small brush fires have been, but if they get out of hand….
One town sent the water trucks out to douse yards in neighborhoods, so I wonder why that isn’t done along the hiway where all the dry brush is. Because people still toss their butts out the window.

so glad to hear from you! so scary to watch via the internet, seeing livestreams from the Alert wildfire cameras & satellite imagery as the fire roared down the mts… hoping you were out in time and seeing jude’s post that you were okay… thinking of your post about Puppy coming inside, how odd that was..
so Yes toward the hill remaining safe, for you & company remaining safe, for the winds to cooperate and containment to happen. Yes.

Sue, once again, thank you. I keep checking in to see if there is any news. The waiting is hard when the concern is huge. Sigh.

The good news, and I am sure Grace is not counting her chickens before they hatch, is the fire boundary nearest her hill is not moving closer and the fire in that area Appears to be subsiding. Sort of. However, as she rightly says, it all depends on the wind. I keep checking cameras but they are pretty smokey and the closest one pointing in her hill’s direction is 25 miles away. I might post that one anyway tomorrow.

Well I was trying to post the small map on this page but that doesn’t seem to be possible. So here is the main page https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/6997/. Scroll down and enlarge the small map on the right side of the page.

This morning in New Mexico, stepping outside, the sky is not the usual sky, no blaring sunrises of intense color…when grace lived here, sometimes we would email each other to tell of what our skies looked like, she down south, me in central New Mexico, comparing and contrasting. This morning the sky is blanketed with strands of light, a peachy glow, soft blue and if you could touch the sky, it would feel like flannel, that most comforting of cloth. I’m taking this as a sign that grace, family and the Hill are safe and holding together.

My thanks too for the posted link updates. This situation is making me CRAZY in the giving up fate to the universe department. I am trying my hardest to float/move/ride energy in the ways I believe grace would wish me to “be” as much for her energetic and emotional needs at this time as my own. But I am going absolutely out of my mind with my heart in my throat at all times.
thank you so much. I remember when it reached this point the last time it did and people kept circling back here to the comment section in order to stitch together whatever they could glean or had observed. To hold love for her together. To be IN love together …
(thank you)

Dear one, Each day as I follow the progression of the fires, many friends in the Happy Camp area losing everything, I look for any news in the Oroville area, hoping that winds are not pushing the fires closer to your home. May your land be cleared with safe spaces surrounding all dwelling places so that home will welcome you back when it is safe.
Prayers and positive thoughts going out to you and yours every day, all day.

Here are cameras – 10 -25 miles away – for now, pointing towards the southmost tip of Lake Oroville near Grace’s hill:

If a camera no longer includes Lake Oroville in its range (see right side map), then it’s direction has been changed so ignore it.

Tried to post all the cameras and got nothing (see above). So here is the first one. All cameras need to include the southmost part of Lake Oroville in order to cover Grace’s hill. Closest cameras are 10-25 miles away. Here’s the first:

All of the empty comments above are me trying to post camera links. Don’t know the trick to make the links show. This is the best camera 25 miles away from Grace’s Hill and pointing towards it:
http://www.alertwildfire dot org/tahoe/index.html?camera=Axis-OregonHouse&v=81e004f
You will need to construct the URL yourself – replace ” dot ” with “.”
If you want to check other cameras, choose the ones pointing to the southmost tip of Lake Oroville.

at some point, we just settle with what is. soon we may have a back fire that will determine the safety of our shared environ.

well, thats hard and complicated…. Experience, Steadfastness to land for 50 years, husband’s Determination, Systems we’ve set in place, swallowing Fear, a very fine Community that sticks together.
It is now nearly 2 weeks later. Our homes are standing but much has burned. Fire could still wrap around and get us. Exhausted to the max, but still willing to do what can be done.
We are connected Grace. someday we will meet, when we come to Chico to harvest persimmons and citrus.
stay well and strong,

yes.nearly 2 weeks it’s been. I go back during the day,
there is such a FEELING to that
“fire could still wrap around and get us”
they have been unable to stabilize areas around us…spot fires breaking out continuing in impossible rough terrain
We have not much at all in place…just some 3 small years of effort…not much at all, but when i go Give Water today i will want to stay.
the thought of you coming to Chico for Persimmons and citrus…appearing in body. I exhale long and slow.
Such Love to you
