                                                                                                    a spirit house

cloth.  cloth feels good….the complete engagement once it's begun.  There's a basket here on this table bench…on my left.  On top,  the drawing board and calendars….the round shallow basket of…..current things  which lately have not been current.  Just quiet.   Under,   IN  the Basket is the baggie with all Deb's Threads,   some other things and two zip locks of particular scraps that have accumulated.   Mostly very small,  but this long piece was there and it had been rolledfolded .   tube like.     Once unrolled,  it went ….of its own accord.    No hesitation.   Cloth Love.

“A spirit house”… I’ve bee thinking a lot about spirit and how it comes, what form it takes, how I feel when I feel it, recognize it. It comes to me when I forage for what marks and colors my cloths. It comes to me when cloth speaks and a story begins to unfold. It comes to me when the land offers me more than just dye materials, it offers me food in the form of wild onions…
My daughters like to send me links of videos and articles that they think I might enjoy. This morning I watched such a link; a short video of a “medica”, healer and herbalist Camilla Trujillo of New Mexico. She walked in a field pointing out various herbs used for different ailments and for cooking. Among the herbs she found were scorpion weed, primrose, Mormon tea, all used in various ways for skin and circulation problems. She also found to my delight, wild onion which I Have found here and used in my cooking, she puts it in her pot of beans. Chimaya is an ancient herb that she pointed out at the end of her walk, also used to flavor beans. The one thing that she said that especially stayed with me is this:
“Herbs come when they are needed.” Spirit comes when needed…
This is all by way of saying that your cloth unfolded with bits and pieces of scraps because it was it’s time, it was needed to come forth, spirit house.

A basket of current things… I have those. And like yours, go quiet, waiting.
