at the base of one of the tomato pots. 2 of them….this one accidentally knocked over, not knowing it was there…appearing "overnight". Studying the pamphlet Mushrooms of California J. Duane Sept, i think it is Good. But i would need to find someone i could "drive" to….mushroom in hand….but i CAN. This i CAN do. Mushrooms….in B Garden. Already i saw a Turkey Tail beginning on the log over next to the Pomegranate Tree.

My Dad and Uncle knew all about finding edible mushrooms and I wish I had thought to have them teach me. They used to go duck hunting and bring in their hunting bags, a tiny skillet, tin container of bacon grease, fresh garlic and parsley, red pepper flakes and of course their bota bags filed with wine. They would look and find mushrooms, gather wood and make a fire, bring out the skillet and cook themselves a mushroom feast. Once in a while, they even brought home some ducks!

are morels. My grandfather used to bring them home and fix them for me. Again…sauteed in butter. Have yet to see a morel here.
i just looked them up in Sierra Nevada. Interesting…
“here most of our morels are the bittersweet fruit of the forest fire. Fire causes the morels to fruit in huge numbers. It can be epic.” how GREAT to find this just now.LikeLike
