i agreed with myself some time ago to only include here things i have Done.  or,  am in the midst  of Doing.    Not intention to do because i am often not good with follow through.   But this, Today.   for 3 years probably i have said i will go.  and i haven't.  But today i say i WILL go.  And by saying that,  i will follow through.   It's past time.   Once a week there is a Work Day when all who volunteer are welcome to participate in whatever project is at hand.    I need this.   As a remedy  for  the  glut  glutt?  glut  of so much that  is toxic to me in  the world off this Hill…..of which i am still a part.  Still a citizen of.   and still Responsible for all that being a citizen of means.

you can google….Verbena Fields  Chico CA  to read more easily.

What I wonderful experience to get involved with Verbena Fields; giving back. restoring the land and in doing so, maybe restoring a part of yourself as well…You become an active participant, not merely tagging along as someone points out and tells you what you are seeing:
I read this about Verbena Fields: “Unlike most public gardens sporting signs that forbid touching or removing plants, in Verbena Fields (a 17-acre plot of public property in the middle of Chico), visitors are encouraged to take a redbud or willow cutting, dig up and give a new home to a mugwort, or scatter native wildflower seeds.”

how wonderful after nearly two years of having to shelter away from Covid to have this place to go to … I loved the Mechoopda mosaic, but my eye couldn’t help catching on the mention of yellow star thistle, surely the same invasive as the Malta star thistle that occupied many hours of weeding at the Hill Country house … https://imgoingtotexas.blogspot.com/2016/04/plant-peeps.html
it’s beautiful to look at, but a prolific seed-producer … I recall how one had to pinch the stem below the lowest leaves to uproot it as those base leaves always concealed the remains of a single bloom carrying enough seeds to single-handedly start a new colony

What a wonderful project to have the opportunity to be a part of. It sounds tailor made for you since you are interested in growing things and native plants and herbs. It’s also an opportunity to get to know others who share you interests.
    I’d say go for it!
