i'm sure it's iron.   from the trail head….i can't remember the name,  but where you park next to the trestle.   A lifetime of things to find.   I wish i'd shown it to Bill,  the geologist.   He would know how this might have been formed.   the form  is so organic.  Heavy.  I sit in meditation,  holding in my left palm,  the right under.   Immediately,  my breathing slows,   deepens.

this would have been from the last time i went to Bosque del Apache,  to say goodbye.   November, 2017

I have a bit of iron rock found in Missouri as we walked with our grandsons there … it feels so heavy in the hand and seems to hold a temperature different from the air around it (although I know in my head that isn’t true, it’s just a sensory illusion) …
and I wonder, have you ever read Byrd Baylor’s book “Everybody needs a rock”? … although if not, I think you already know what it takes to find a very very good one

Yes still with and the spark of memory, of belonging came and so I went: Went back in time to May 24, 2014, our trip to Water Canyon WHERE I saw Ancient Mother, a massive rock; Where I took a photo of your hand reverently touching rocks, called the photo, Hand, Stone, Together and Where, you took photo of me hugging Ancient Mother because simply, I needed to…rocks, massive, small, all sizes, shapes, colors, textures and always, pulsing with life and story: guardians of long ago, the ancient times, our present times, the future…quietly and sometimes not so quietly, letting their presence be known…

    not sure…the sensory illusion….
i have read the Book. Is Beauty Full. I thought of it
for Emrie, but held off. To her, ALL rocks and Stones are Beauty Full. ANY and ALL of them…she loves them equally.
tonight, the first time in a While, she and i did the GoatFeed chores together, Talkie, Puppy and Tay feed. On the way back, she stopped and stopped to pick up stones/rocks from the roadway and stuff them in her pocket. And InSide this tin house, the first time in a while, she placed them all on the Table, got the ones that she and i keep on the window ledge. She builds. I’ll post a pic tomorrow.

Simply, that we will be here long after all of you are gone but the landscape will certainly be changed due to indifference, due to carelessness, due to not listening and seeing and valuing what was here…

Is it magnetic? If you put copper sulfate on it, does it bubble and rust more? – Questions from J.
The weight of things helps sometimes, keeps one grounded. I have a beautiful Big Sur Jade rock like that.
