She dresses herSelf.   Often,  more conservative than this.  But it's always up to her.   Alyssia went off to her appointment and Emrie was preoccupied with something,  being unsure of something and it took a while,  but we talked.   About masks.  About staying distant OR about hugging.     I had asked Alyssia what the changes are to their  protocol since Jeff's arrival on the scene.  She said i would have to make the decisions on my own.   I had re listened to the OnBeing  conversation of March 18  Whats Happening in Our Nervous Systems yesterday,  Christine Runyan .   So much now relating to Brinley,  who has found herself in a totally new circumstance,  without her mother,  without the FromBirthFeel of her mother to a fast developing nervous system of a four year old human.   I will listen repeatedly.   Emrie has a very real and solid understanding of why we follow these precautions.   According to her understandings,  we decided that inside this small house we would both wear masks.  Outside we would not need to.   It was the first SUNny day in so long and we were out at the table when she said she wanted to wear her shark mask for a while.

Why? i asked

Because i like how it looks with this jacket.        She asked that i take a pic.

This time has been so much for us all, nervous systems developing, in place, in place with old needs and traumas…just so much. I love that she picks the mask for the look of it! My daughter wanted to sign up for t-ball (way after the time it was possible to do so), because she saw the uniforms, costumes to her and wanted to wear one too. It had nothing to do with the game. That was her, at 5 years old.
When they need a fresh mask, the 2-3 year olds at work get to pick which mask they want out of their personal, labeled ‘pencil bag’ thing. This stuff is important to them.
    What a time.
Hugs to your lil gal, outside, with masks, maybe a big one from behind. xo

    That’s how they are….
The Health Department guidelines for here have been very clear the whole time that infants and toddlers require touch. Really, we all do…

In this time of daily pandemic life, this non-normal, when children are adjusting to just so much, Emrie’s answer to why she is wearing her shark mask is a breath of fresh air, a simply joyful response!

It’s interesting to see that we each have an innate sense of style from when we are very young.

It’s nice to visit here and see the children. to read the comments. On what it would be like to have a small child in the mix. COVID is spreading like wild fire here in Maine. So many not wearing any face covering. It’s a very dangerous place right now.
