Several trees fell in the two Great Storms.   Old ones,  parts of sprawling ones.   Fire mitigation….cut and remove this fire fuel.  Everyone came.   Jeff is the designated chain  saw person.   He did well.   All four kids were here.  They did well learning how to be independently occupied….on their own,  with each other.   Jenny was very Happy.   She blooms with  getting things done.

we looked at several colonies of Turkey Tail,  2 large ones,  many small.   Turkey Tail…long time medicinal.  you can google it.  We need to use it.   for our own well being.   Learn.

am having issues with the new laptop's battery cord.  If i fail to appear on any morning…that's why.

I often google after reading here. It helps me grow and learn. I’m with Jenny, sometimes it feels so darn good to get even the smallest things done and off the mental list. Also, I’m a believer in children needing to know how to play on their own.

the turkey tail looks like velvet that has been dyed, stitched and gathered … and how wonderful to hear of the gathering of all four generations, which I assume means all have made it safely through Covid (although I missed seeing Alyssia mentioned here … hope she is well)

I do love Turkey Tail fungi ~ in Alaska it is also called “Trametes or Yun Zhi. Shelf fungi is also called “conk(s). bowls, art work, numberous artistic uses. Medicinal uses. Part of the cycle of decomposition of trees. here’s a list if these things interest you. Alaska Plant Profiles
    CONKS / SHELF FUNGI. https://plants.alaska.gov/pdf/Conks.pdf
So fabulous to read about your family day! Just the ticket for fixin’ cooped up lives, and getting ready for what’s next. Spring and cabin fever! It is still winterish here, but spring fever is hitting hard and heavy when the sun comes out!
My “heathen” (aka offspring, and theirs) often snark about my “get things done” lists, and personal requirements, such as what, how, and in what order! They usually go along to avoid the ol’ woman’s eyes of, well, mild annoyance, and sometimes more than mid annoyance! the “look” – usually accompanied by bursts of hilarity, or mild forms of bribery!
Be well, all who come here – tiz a virtual “have a cuppa with me, anytime”.

I like getting things done, but even more I like reclaiming traditional knowledge, like how to identify and use Turkey Tail. We have something called “False Turkey Tail” out front. I’m sure the real ones are somewhere nearby.

yes…to play on their own. To tune them to that, encourage the imagination, distance some from their neediness that is only habit. There’s a whole world here. For them. They need to learn to see it.

yes…all are well. ALL were here. Fate was hardly symptomatic except for the coughing. But he was the carrier.
an example of how easy it is to ignore things that can prove to be HARD for others.

I grew up calling them conks, which always sounded funny. Still does really. I love finding them when I walk in the woods, also in my garden.
