the most devoted….that was Humor.   me,  laughing with myself.    I know.   I KNOW that each of ALL of US,  the hundreds of us are the Best.    When i said the most ……devoted…..i meant that i have gone to Spirit Cloth every day,  looking,  learning,  finding.  Every Day.  for all these years.  Often more than once.  Twice.

for me,  the interior me,  the True Self,   all i need is Earth and Sky.   Graphite and Cloth.   I had always loved drawing.    Didn't know how to let graphite be alive.   Kay Gould Caskey taught me.     I had always loved old cloth.  Didn't know you could make pictures with it.   Jude Hill taught me.    My life's JOY is through them.   I am forever,  truly,  forever devoted.

the above is more Joy.   That Baker Creek Seed Catalog….a wonder unto its own self.    It's incredibly BeautyFull,  the photographs,   the plants themselves,  the arrangement of food and flowers intermingled.   Their Love of what they do so THERE on each page.   If i could make an I love You card for Jude and Kay,  it would look like the Baker Creek Seed Catalog.

i was in the middle of an email to marti and flipped over to google Hispi cabbage on the Phone….and Lo and Behold….what pic pops up?,  but from Baker Creek…..Hispi cabbage,  as my wonderFULL  Farmer's Market guy calls it.   Hispi cabbage is also  formally known as   Early Jersey Wakefield Cabbage!!!!!!!!!!!!  and Baker Creek has it.    So although my seed order had arrived,  i ordered 2 pkts of Hispi and also this Hopi Sunflower  AND the Winged Bean that i had though so amazing but also an extravagance and didn't order.   And by this,   i see that it is true.   I have changed over this year.   I am truly just going.    Last garden year was a lot of Fail.  The Heat…110 too many days…that and what i think might have been all i have to give to Fire Fear.   As i was preparing the soil to plant the Peas,   i found self thinking to just Go.   Plant everything.   It's actually warm enough and tho it doesn't follow any traditional suggestions…Why Not?    There are always more seeds than i have room for.  Just plant.   Let it all be….What If.     Another thing Jude has encouraged in me,  my What Ifness.

It was an extremely BeautyFull Day.

A thread nest of a garden! Love that sunflower. I am thinking, no need to explain (maybe for you, but not me), I’ve always thought of you as “most devoted” for just the reasons you state and I have loved you and your take on all of this from The Daughter Cloth on to the loose scraps and on after that. We come, each in our own way and we learn or grow or evolve as we will. I’ve treasured being on this journey with you, with all. how lucky are we?!

Hopi black dye sunflower, bonus plant, beauty, seeds, dye…winged green beans, how unusually beautiful…have never had a Baker Street catalog so went to order one but they are out of the 2022. I’m on the list for the 2023. Catalog looks to be a treasure, will keep in my bookcase to look at over and over.

seed catalogs and seed packets … how they hold promise … and maybe this is the best of us, that we can envision something more and then bring it into being

I’m a city girl .. always have been. Oh don’t get me wrong I’ve always loved gardening flowers vegetables composting .. all things passed down from my mom. I visited farms and love country drives with Michael. But big open spaces and being alone leave me terrified and are avoided at all cost. I admire and have learned so much from you Grace about not just loving the flowers and vegetables that I’ve grown but LOVING the earth that provides the opportunity. You opened my eyes so much so that last year I prearranged a green burial. Surprised that even my husband and daughter followed my lead. I can honestly say with no uncertainty that 5 years ago I would never have considered such a thing. I tell you this because I want you to know that I love and respect you .. but most important I want you to know that your words here have real meaning .. purpose. We learn from each other .. so much!! All of you that visit here don’t think for a minute that what you write here doesn’t matter!! You’re all my teachers!! Big Thanks!!

I’ve grown the Hopi Black Dye sunflower. Very satisfying. Last year they didn’t do well. I neglected my dye garden. Lots of Fail. But lots of Beauty too. Seeds are amazing.

i researched. Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, dead. a record here in Putnam, rampant across New York State. they say small biting midges were blown in with the strange tropical style storms. climate related. doesn’t affect humans. they die within 36 hours. am sure we will see them repopulate.
