SUN flowers

the seeds that Emrie planted in the little toilet paper roll pots were planted today.   These,  along the ridge behind Tazmeena's grave.   I have never transplanted Sun Flowers before.  Always direct seed.   I was surprised by the LENGTH of their filament roots in those little round toilet paper planters…..LONG already and i hope not too long,  not too much disturbance of Life Force.   Learn.      I will direct seed others all along that fence line.   My heart hopes.   SunFlowers are Strength to me.  Fierce Beauty.  Food Flowers.   My hope for this Summer.   i find my Self   hoping.    i didn't used to.

    I’ll be sure to let Don know about this as he has started sunflower seeds in pots for the first time this year … better to move the sprouts sooner than later

    I too started my Hopi black dye sunflwoer seeds in first, peat pots, then transferred them into a larger pot and this weekend, they went into the ground. I had three seeds, 2 sprouted so they are now planted in the little gardening space in front, each one next to a wall to grow since they get up to 10′ tall.
    Never have grown this variety. Have grown mammoth sunflowers but my favorites are the miniature autumn hued sunflowers, they give such good deep, rich color and make wonderful bouquets.
    On my night stand is a tiny photo of Rich surrounded by a field of sunflowers, in TN, arms opened wide.
    Sunflowers and daisies, my favorite hopeful flowers.

    Strong and hopeful with face to the sun. That’s my wish for everyone–to be the sunflower.

    And again, Janie. Sunflowers were her favorite. She grew rows of them, basking in the Sun, the flowers and her. While I sat in the shade wishing for the moon.

    I am planting sunflowers everywhere this year. Since the trees in the front are gone there is sunshine in places that could barely support moss. Sunflowers along the chainlink fence that divides us from next door. Since that house is empty, I will plant sunflowers along its south wall and fences. Creeping after dark, poking seeds in soil. No on in their right mind will pay what is being asked, so chances are, my neighbors will be crazy. I hope they like sunflowers.

    to BE the sunflower…yes…to BE
    Sunny R is ok. We have returned to everyother day dressing
    change…sending pics to Vet. It appears tendons are
    visible. She will come. I only pray we don’t have to
    go back to the injections. But…whatever he needs….
